Frozen chicken

do you have electroytes (like durvet) to put in the water? If distressed and panting then electrolytes are needed.

Thanks to everyone for your words of encouragement and well wishes. thelma seems to be feeling better this am she has been drinking water well, had a gross brown BM this am, haven't seen her eat yet. I have her set up in my bathroom with the tub lined in paper. The things we don't do for our critters. She seems to be breathing much easier today, I applied some burts bee balm lip balm to her beak yesterday hoping the menthol and eucylptus would help with her resp. problems, gave her vit b complex and tlc.

good to hear she is doing better! (when their reserves are no longer taken up to keep warm, it is amazing how quickly their own immune system can get them better!) If she is not panting and drinking sufficiently then there is no need for the electrolytes (the vitamins are a great idea!)

So glad she is doing better!

And thank you Spotted

Glad to hear your hen is doing better.
It is funny how different chickens will act. All my coops are heated once the temp drops below 50 degrees and all but one will come out in the daytime, no matter what the weather. The one will not get her feet wet, period. Then I have three that refuse to go inside at all. They roost in a pine tree outside my bedroom window, even in the snow. Every morning at 3:15 A M, the roo tells me it is time to get up. They have been out in a snow strom at 5 degrees.
