frozen corn and carbohydrates in summer

Taken from your link..

"Corn itself does not raise a chicken's body temperature. It is a carbohydrate source providing energy to the chicken's body. There is an increased energy need during the winter"

What I mean is when you see a study.. something more scientific, where they used hundreds or thousands of chickens groups fed different things like wheat, corn, etc and check the core body temperature of the birds before and after eating the different feeds for comparison. Until then my reasonable deduction tell me that core body temperature is not raised by eating corn.

We ALL have one issue or another and many things we kick our own back ends for.. And yes hormones make us and our young cockerels (teenage kids) and more crazy. Please start another thread about it if you like to try and rally some support.. since it's WAY off topic here. ;)
Oh, and quit your bellyaching and take it like woman! :smack (Friendly poke) :plbb
There are no studies in that one source cited, but many sources have pointed out foods high in carbohydrates can increase core temperature, but it’s not very significantly increased. But, science doesn’t have one set answer to things. Something can be proven right in one study, then proven wrong in another. That’s what’s great about it.

yes nutritituonist do know how much heat feed ingredients cause in an animal, we call it Heat Increment. It is the measure of energy lost due to metabolism or extra muscle movement needed to digest the feed.

Corn, fats, oils all have low Heat Increment. High fiber ingredients like hays, oats, soybean hulls, vegetables heat a high Heat Increment because it takes more effort to digest these types of ingredients.

That's why I like to see the studies with my own eyes so I can see how many were tested, what methods were used, etc.. basically see HOW valid it is.. If they give something to a test subject in extreme amount that would NEVER be consumed on a regular basis and then claim oh it causes cancer.. dare I say overdose of almost any thing can create harmful side effects.

One way or the other.. assessment my is and ANY amount of CORE body temperature being effected by feed stuff.. that you keep saying "slightly increased" is simply not enough to recommend people don't feed something.

I agree studies are studies that may get debunked all the time and science is an ongoing study of what we can perceive that does change throughout time. That doesn't make them irrelevant. Since you can;t find any.. here's one I found..

None of the factors studied influenced RT (p>0.05; Figure 2a). An overall mean RT of 41.6°C was recorded over the duration of the study period.

All digestion creates heat, but it does not raise body temperature. Birds, as are mammals, are homoethermic...temps are fairly constant. Does your body temperature raise if you eat corn (yeah, maybe a fraction of a degree, but your body regulates it).

Anyways.. enough is enough.. for me.. Everything we do and believe will be done according to our personal perception. Despite Me not feeding corn in addition to whatever in inside the formulated ration and feeling as though scratch is the candy bar of the chicken world.. I still try to share the what appears to be the basic truth. Feeding frozen corn in moderation will cause NO harm to chickens, period. :)
