frozen feet

You can soak him to get the poop off his feather and soak his legs at the same time. Then dry him well, and blow him dry. Can you please tell us about how his feet and legs look or his wounds? Are his feet frozen and turning black? Once he is completely dry, then you can try putting him in a cooler part of your house. Is he drinking or eating anything. Pictures would be good.

Glad you took custody of this guy and that you have the means to help him. With his multiple issues, I imagine it will be a rough couple of days or weeks. If you can show us his feet and wounds, that would be great. Is he off of a cold floor? A crate with warm, soft bedding would be good. It’s possible his feet froze because he was immobilized due to the dog attack. What color are they today and are they swelling or blistering at all? Can he walk at all?

My chicken has an injured foot. Not sure if this is frostbite or not. Could you please help with treatment suggestions.

Yes that does look like severe fostbite on the toes. If you can go back to post 11, there are some good links to read on how to treat frostbite. I would bring her inside in a dog crate on a soft towel, and soak her feet in soapy or Epsom salts water for 15-20 minutes. Do not massage or rub. Use some Betadine or Vetericyn on her legs after they dry. You may want to start a new thread of your own for less confusion by clicking on the blue box in the center of the page here to Post A New Thread:

I would urge you to click on and read the articles about frostbite back in post 11. None of those recommends wrapping the legs or anything other than soaking and spraying them with something like Betadine or Vetericyn.
