OK, my polish keep getting icecicles in their crest, I have been drying them and trimming them only to come out and BAM more ice! I'm not sure how, or why or what they are doing! Tonight I had to dry Splash and she was not having it! I got the ice thawed and mostly dried before I finally let her win the fight. Any advice? I've seen crocheted hats? It's our first winter and they literally just started laying

We have silkies with the big poofs and beards. For nearly a decade now we've used a 5-gallon DIY nipple bucket. We have various other smaller nipple buckets for the breeding/growout pens too, and train them as babies on the verticle nipple bottle.

The nice thing is, there's no open water in the coop and they get a fresh sip every time, without getting wet!

Is this happening while they are in the coop roosting? I ask because if there isn't proper ventilation, the heat from their bodies will cause condensation which will collect and freeze on them. Is their water inside the coop or outside?

We have tried and tried to get them to use the nipples but they won't even attempt! Maybe I can try again?

No, just in the run. I've thought about keeping them locked up but then I'd have to move water in the coop, and they'd be sad and they'd most likely poop all over, and then step in it, and then I'd have poop feathers on two of our girls feet

How is the . I have no clue! The run is covered, there's a few spots with puddles along the edge?

The water is outside

I only taught one over eight years ago, and since then, they all learned on their own. Just don't have any other water source nearby. They will become thirsty and try it, then once one does, the rest will learn too.

I think it's happening when she's foraging! I've been watching her today and noticed she's going all the way to the walls of the run and then her "hair" is getting in the puddles and mud
