fruit makes them stop laying?

Sorry guys! I can't see what I type after the first line when I post from my blackberry...

Anyway the catalog says under care for laying hens:"Don't feed fruit to layers, as it can cause them to stop laying and it may take as long as six weeks for them to start again".

It doesn't say "excessive fruit" just fruit in general... I would think a hatchery wouldn't follow old wives tales... U'd think they'd just leave it out if there wasn't science behind it....

Hahahaha - yeah right! That's like saying "The TSC employee told me that, so it MUST be true!!" That must be why all the hatcheries call EEs Ameraucanas or Araucanas or some version there of.

I used to work with a gal who was pregnant who absolutely refused to put her arms above her head for any reason for fear she's strangle the baby. Now when I was pregnant, I used to put my arms in the air and run through the store just to drive her crazy. DD was born nice and healthy and not-strangled.

Seriously though, my hens get fruit all the time and they lay well. Remember, spoiled hens lay better eggs.
