Full Moon Egg Setting Who wants to join?

My internet has been down so I wasn't able to check in. I originally put in 30 EE/BO cross, 28 made it to lockdown and 25 hatched! Will try to get a pic up later.

buckeyes ( shipped ) =0 (3 pips ) / 18 from my yard = 8 / 11 neighabors = 9
with the weather the way it is I'm going to continue till next wed or thurs at least 27 days which should take care of any that may hatch late .

I still have eggs in the incubator. Two still have viening, but the other 3 I see a mass, so figured I'd wait and see.

Bird Bird is a splash. I have one blue OE roo, Jovi who has feathered shanks. Then I have AM cockerels that are black, blue, and lavender. Also my FBCM. These are the roos that are out there. I have one chick that looks to be black with feathered shanks. One I'm sure is blue, clean legged and the other two are different shades of brown and clean legged. Two have pink legs and 2 have a dark area up the front of their legs. I've never hear of a hen laying eggs from more than one roo at a time. Could this happen? These are all her's.

I had 25 in the bator at lockdown and 14 hatched on Wed and Thurs. 9 quiters as of today. They were fully developed with alot of yolk left but no pip and no movement. Here are the pics of my bouncing baby Black Australorps.

I ended up having 5 out of 14 hatch...had a couple who pipped inteternally, but never pipped externally...not sure what happened, did not appear shrink wrapped. I had one pip on the bottom side of the egg, didn't see it...that one didn't make it either. I left 4 in the bator that I couldn't see had pipped interanally...figure I'll give them a couple of days. So sad to see those babies all formed and ready to hatch and not make it. Not sure what happened, temps were great...humidity was good...guess the babes just weren't meant to be!

I'm sure I'll be setting more eggs...never give up, right?? Happy everyone had a pretty good hatch!!

I ordered 2 dozen Jersey Giant eggs back in September, and out of the 27 eggs I got in the mail, only ONE hatched!!! I ordered from another breeder and, this time, I had 26 Jersey Giant eggs and only FIVE hatched. I was SO upset!!!

I had SEVEN fully formed chicks that had died in the shell. I thought I was going to be sick. The day of my hatch I ordered more eggs, because I wanted at least a dozen Giants. So, I did more research. The thermometer on my Brinsea ECO 20 was hanging around 100 to 100.2 to 100.4. I turned back the temp, and this time only added distilled water that was close to my body temp (when I stuck my finger in it doesn't feel either hot or cold). Maybe I did better this time...or maybe I was just lucky. You never know. Anyway, this time I got 16 out of 26. Eighteen went into lockdown, and two were still dead in the shell. One had never pipped internally and was not shrink wrapped, so who knows what happened. The other one was a HUGE egg, and when I opened it, the inside was really wet. It looked like it had drowned, because it had not pipped internally either and its beak was still in ALOT of fluid. Strange, because the others were just right when they hatched. I started to go into major depression again, and then I said to myself..."Self, you just had SIXTEEN chicks hatch. GET A GRIP!!!" When you get a quitter or a clear, you're bummed, but when a fully formed chick that dies in the shell, that's tough!

So anyway, now I have 21 Jersey Giants out of those two hatches...hmm...better snag hubby and redo a chunk of the barn or build ONE BIG COOP!!!

Oh yeah, did I mention I got 5 chicks in the mail, plus the lonely one from the first hatch
lau.gif
How many is that? I prefer to think of them as 1 + 5 + 5 + 16 in their individual groups...it doesn't sound like quite so many that way.

And, then there are the silkies. They are 4 + 11 + 9. I live in Ohio, so it's already too cold to put baby chicks outside. Did you happen to see that episode of "Animal Hoarders" where the guy had over 100 chickens in his house?

Oh, and as soon as the Giants hatched, another 20 silkies went in the bator...I CAN'T STOP!!!
