Okay, was going to candle last night but think got kind of hectic. First I was splitting up the 30 7 week old chicks into two pens, so I had to get the second pen ready. My daughter helped me to this, our Roo hates her for some reason, so when we are outside she just stays behind me and he leaves her alone, but for whatever reason he decided to try and get through me to get her. My leg is pretty bruised. He went after me 3 times each time I kicked him to the ground then he gave up, but the whole time his eyes were on her. Yep it is time for him to go! Then our oldest dog, a 15 year old Jack Russell took a turn for the worse, so we are now faced with either putting her down or letting it happen naturally. Normally I go for the naturally but I am not sure at this point. DH and myself will talk about it more tonight.

I just can't help myself after having an infertile batch sent last time I need to know if I have life this time around. Boy am I in trouble when they go into lockdown I'm going to go insane waiting knowing I can't touch them. I am also going hatching crazy already thinking of what I want to hatch next. I have some turkeys I'm bidding on and a 30 plus lot of mixed egg and meat birds but also want to hatch some quails. But don't think my incubator will be big enough and hubby will get me if I buy another one. Plus have some lavender and lemon oringtons I'm trying to win too. Thinking about breeding, hatching and then selling the babies. Hopefully people in my farming community will like that especially with a few rare chickens involved. What do you all think. Yeah to hatching Love Love to see them move

LOL...I bet we were bidding against each other on these yesterday. I had 2 batches of Lemon Cuckoo Orps & a batch of Lavender. Won 1 of each & let the other Lemon go once I got my 1st one. Lemons are shipping today, Lavs are shipping early next week. Al-in-all, I have over 60 eggs on the way counting the 8+ ducks & all the silkie & banty eggs (6 banties from my own flock). I set my 1st 6 (my banties) yesterday & have 6+ silkies & another bator due today. Looks like I'll be setting eggs every couple days for the next couple weeks

I would be great for you to join to see how it see what to expect, but it would be really good to also join a group or start your own that is setting at the same time as you. I was 4 days behind the last group I was on, and it was frustrating that theirs were hatching and mine were not and then when mine did hatch everyone else moved on.

and.......100% fertile!!!!! All 17 shipped eggs show development and the 3 I added from my own are also growing

However, my one concern is on a shipped egg that has a dark spot in it. It is not the "eye", but is about as big as a pin head and is "floating" right beneath the developing part. I wonder if it is one of those red spots that some eggs have in them. I have heard they won't hatch so I guess I will just have to wait and see.

Mine will be such a staggered hatch that it really doesn't matter at this point. I'll be setting eggs from now til the middle of June as they come in. I placed a couple delayed orders for once some of the originals hatch. Ran outta room!!! So I will have chicks & ducks hatching every few days for the next 2 months

hi guys

i candled again last night

6 duck eggs

3 look fertile but cant see the duckling dot dancing but very nice veining

2 look like blood rings and 1 infertile

i have 2 eggs in lockdown from previous incubation

today is day 18

if any one wants to watch hatch day let me know and i will setup a live video stream
