Fully enclosed, covered runs.....cheaply?

Oh I think your pen is lovely Blooie! I just have a love/hate relationship with rain. LOL! I love it, we need it, but we get too much sometimes! Haha!

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a concrete floor. Sigh...... I had one once in a place I rented.....it was an old smoke house I used for the birds. It was lovely and perfect. I own my place now, so at least I have no parameters on WHAT I can do.....just cost. I asked a guy recently who does driveways how much for an 18x36 pad with the ground work to level it and he quoted me $6500. *dies*

The hoop house style (cattle panel) is what we use as well. It can be modified to work in just about any setting. For a situation such as the OP's with the rain to contend with it's going to be more about the design of the drainage plan than what the run is constructed out of.

Yes, drainage plan was an afterthought.......one that I haven't quit kicking myself about. The sand has been a HUGE help, and we have since put in a french drain. But since it's also made of pallets, the water collects underneath the coop on the downhill side......which is nice in the 100% humidity, 95+ temps we get. It's like a little cool house for them, but they get disgustingly filthy.

But since I'm looking at multiple smaller pens, hoop coops might work.....as long as I don't make them taller than the tarps I can get my hands on. LOL!
