Fully feathered?

Hey everyone :)

I have two sets of chicks pictured here; they’re about a week apart in age. The older ones are around five weeks old, the younger ones four weeks. The older ones look pretty feathered to me, and the younger ones have a lot of feathers. I don’t really see them going under their heating pad much anymore but I’m not out in the wee hours looking either.

Think we’re close to no heater coop living? Lows at night will be in the 40s-50s by next week.

Thanks for the advice - I just don’t want to hurt them after getting their feral little selves this far!

Eta - they’re outside already so they’re used to the outdoor temps, but always have the heating pad if needed.

Those feathers look good! I usually let my chicks out at six weeks, but they're usually less feathered than these. IF you wanted to be safe, I would wait a week or even just a few more days, but they look okay to me.
Great! The coop isn’t done yet so they’ll have probably another week til DH finishes it. But I’m ready to have them out. They’re starting to try to peck holes in my brooder 🙄
