Fun thread: I was called a redneck because...

I was called a redneck for liking country music. One Christmas I asked for albums by Shania Twain and Faith Hill. My dad asked me since when did I like country music. I told him, since it stopped sucking. He called me a redneck.

Also I was called a redneck for saying I was from North Carolina.

Because I swim in ponds in the middle of the night, in summer, drunk *OR* sober and don't worry about all the snakes (and here in TN, we have our share and three other states' shares of poisonous snakes in *every* pond)...I just get it in me to just stop, pull over, and just jump in...nekkid, of course...seems to be a big part of the reason I'm called a redneck during this event also.

Because I volunteer to help cook a whole hog through the night...I get to get drunk during it!

I been called a redneck for lots of other stuff too...can't seem to remember each reason though, but oh well.

I have been called a redneck because I like to walk barefoot all the time, and yes, even a few times IN the coop. I carry around my hens....or roosters....and kiss my chickens. im PROUD to be a redneck!!

DH called me a redneck for naming my cat Booger.

He has a pink nose with a big black spot in the middle of it, what's a gal supposed to do.

Our cat's name is Poot, it was an attitude thing. I stay barefoot as long as possible -as long as it's warm enough. We have three hundred acres of family owned land in central Virginia which abuts logging company land as well as the state forest... so.... a thousand acres(heeheehee) We used to ride our off road toys naked everywhere/all day long. We've gotten a little older and had enough yellow jacket stings in private places to give up the naked riding but we still go skinny dipping. YEEEEHAW YALL!

Last time I butchered chickens , and they were hanging from my line bleeding out. While I was starting to scald the first of the birds, my middle daughter came into the yard, and upon viewing the scene, stated with a groan.....

OMG, we're really redneck now.

I havn't been called a redneck yet BUT .. I had a chicken in my bed the other day. Getting strange looks from people at work who I told the story to.

I am a redneck!!! And so is my DH. Redneck has nothing to do with where you live or come from.

A redneck is a hard working person. Someone who takes pride in the work that they do and do it right.

Redneck was a word that was used to describe poor white folk that worked in the fields (cotton, tobacco, corn, ect...) and from working in the hot sun bent over all day they would have sunburn on their necks....redneck. Real original huh?

Anyway my point is, I am a redneck and very proud of it. Now "white trash" is a whole nother story. You call me white trash and you're in for some hurt.

With that said I have been called a "redneck" (I guess people mean country or southern when they say redneck) for the following reasons:

~I never wear shoes unless I have to do to weather or going into public areas.
~I'd rather spend all day everyday with animals than with people
~I have no problem with eating watermelon with one hand and cleaning up chicken s*** with the other
~I'd rather jump in the river or lake instead of a swimming pool
~I listen to real country music, outlaw country and southern rock. Not all this pop crap on the radio now

I'm sure there's a million more reasons but I can't list everything I do.
