Week 1 Update

Drago II - His little wing feathers are adorable.

Uno - Still looks like a puffball and I love it.

Momo - Yeah, I finally gave her a name. She still isn’t much bigger than the bantams, so I’m kind of surprised they vent sexed her.

Frost - I think she is a cream legbar, if she is, I can’t wait for her crest to start showing up.

Pop Fart - two are growing their feathers in the same and one of different. I had a pair of golden sebrights and the female feathered in differently than the male did. I hope this means I have two females & one male, lol.

Iggy - Now I’m sure she’s my light brown leghorn. In true leghorn fashion, she didn’t want to stay still very long.

Pop Fart 2 - the other one I hope/think is a female.

Lake - This is to be my lakeshore egger by process of elimination, lol.

Pop Fart 3 - This is the one I think is a male. I hope I’m right, but I think I used up my SR luck with my mottled cochin bantam. I only ordered one back in April and it turned out to be a pullet.

Gladys - still looks like a big puffball like Uno does and I love it.

Dee - Still can’t get over the cottonball on top of her head.

Cookie - I’m very original at names.

Mumble - Yep, definitely looks like a penguin.

Violet - she’s getting big just like Chunk.

Nala - she was not having it today and tried to escape.

Chunk - I am pretty sure she is, in fact, at partridge penedesenca. She’s also still the biggest.

Week 2 Update

Drago II - His little wing feathers aren’t that little anymore.

Uno - Was not happy today and kept trying to jump on me.

Momo - She was absolutely terrified today and I have no idea why.

Frost - I’m waiting for that crest to start popping up…I really hope she’s a legbar.

Pop Fart - Small body but very, very loud. Again, was definitely not happy today.

Iggy - In true leghorn fashion, she acted like it was the end of the world and I was out to get her. Absolutely wired and panicky. That comb is getting suspicious

Pop Fart 2 - Did not want a close up

Lake - One of the calmer ones today.

Pop Fart 3 - Getting some proper boots on his feet.

Gladys - not quite a puffball anymore, she’s getting more of a chicken shape to her.

Dee - Wasn’t as photogenic as she usually is

Cookie - Not much to say about Cookie today.

Mumble - Yep, definitely looks like a penguin.

Nala - She didn’t want to really stand but, yeah, she tried jumping to the windowsill again.

Chunk - Very suspicious comb too….though, I don’t see any black coming in on her chest. It looks like all partridge so far.

How long will a 7x4 brooder ‘fit’ them?

The funky 16 are moving up in the world. Previous tent brooder was 5x3 and the new one is 7x4. Figured it would be better overall for them and since the first tent worked out, I’d just stick with a tent brooder.

Iggy’s comb is really suspicious now

@The Moonshiner you’re the leghorn expert. Does the comb look too developed & red for a supposedly sexed light brown leghorn? 2 & a half weeks old

Looks like a cockerel to me.
Watch the breast area when it starts feathering in in a week or so.
Females will be reddish while males will be mostly black.
That's a for sure tale.
