I have since built a new coop and things are much more peacefull here at Malingering Acers. What?!
I always left out cat food and questionable eggs for mine, I guess they were never hungry enough to hunt something bigger. They've never bothered my chickens, even when the chickens and ducks were free rangers. Same thing with coons. I've never had a rodent problem, I keep my snakes, coons, and opossums around, I figure if they eat a bird it's my fault for being a bad coop builder and if I kill them something else will occupy their territory. I've been friendly with them since they were babies, working around them and making sure they were never hungry enough to hurt my cats.
The armadillos are the problem here. They dig huge holes and compromise the safety of my birds constantly. But they're too cute to kill, I've named them all (there's about five) and they come up for scratches. They must be eating whatever is growing underground in my bunny barn because that's where they hang out the most.
That is hilarious.
I envisioned something like that 20 years ago! I just don't have ceilings high enough to accommodate one. But boy, if I did .... (in my case it would be DH who would raise an eyebrow, lol)
The lights don't look right.
In reality, it looks a lot better than pulling over and sleeping with the wildlife.
