Okay, so I thought it might be fun to have a thread where people can just post funny chicken stories. I guess I will go first.
Once, last summer, I was eating dinner outside. I went inside to get something, (I forgot what) and when I came out one of my Plymouth Rock twins were on the picnic table where I was eating and was eating a piece of a hot dog. When she saw me, she swallowed that piece, grabbed another, and hopped down. That was the last time I left ANY food unguarded with the chickens.

A month ago, I bought 4 chicks to add to my flock. I had a broody hen, so i decided to slip them under her. Everything went well, and she adopted them. The next day, I was out in the coop checking in on the chicks, and I noticed one was missing. I looked everywhere and couldn't find her. Obviously, I freaked out, thinking she had died. Then, I noticed a little yellow speck under the broody hen's feathers. I kept watching, and there was the missing chick! Nestled in the momma's neck feathers! Eventually, the chick popped her head out of the feathers, looked around, and then pulled her head back in.

That's a great story! But I have to say that picture is SO cute!! 🐤🐣🐥

I lost a hen once.
I looked all over for her all day. She was a small, black hen.

It was starting to get dark. I went into the barn for the fourth time to search. I used to keep scratch treats in a small green box. The chickens would all follow me into the barn because they knew where I got the scratch.
I noticed the box was overturned.
Turned it over and there she was.
She must have hopped onto the side of the box looking for treats, and it was too light to hold her weight. It had flipped and she was nearly trapped.

She learnt her lesson.

Adorable.
That's a great photo. He looks so snug 😍

I have a story like that. This is about the same chicks that I mentioned in my first post.
I always feed my chickens their treats in a plastic bowl. So, one day, I gave them their treats, and the babies were running all around trying to get every bit of food they could. After the adult hens left, the chicks could go in and eat anything the adults left behind.
So, I was watching them eat, when I noticed on of the babies was missing. (I seem to have a lot of missing babies ) This chick, Bunny, likes to escape out of the run when she's not supposed to, so I decided to look out there. I was looking through all the plants around the coop, and couldn't find her anywhere. I started to get worried because we have a lot of snakes where I live.
So, I kept searching for her, but she was nowhere to be seen. Finally, I look back into the coop and the food bowl is overturned and moving. None of the chickens were close enough to move it, so I keep watching. The bowl keeps moving, scooting around the whole coop, and bumping into things. I go to the bowl, pick it up, and underneath is Bunny! I don't know how she managed to get stuck under there, but she wasn't very happy about it.

Wow! I don't doubt she learnt her lesson being stuck in a box for that long!
