My EE is a loud mouth all day long. My neighbors thought we had a goose. But, she is a hen because she lays eggs.

Well I am a new chicken person, but I have an EE that is a different color but otherwise VERY similar to yours. She is now a he. Started crowing just this week in fact. I am totally bummed as well. My EE is a brown and black version of yours and super sweet. We are going to keep him. I was convinced it was a girl because of small comb and waddle, but definitely crowing.

So I vote Dude too.

Put him on Craigslist this a.m. Any thoughts on how to weed out people who might use him for fighting? I don't know that it's a problem in my area, but there's always that chance.

EE looks like a roo to me. Looks like pointed saddle feathers at the base of the tail and pointed neck feathers too.
