So I went and picked up some chicks at estes hatchery, not the best experiance but anyhow.... I orderd 3 salmaon faverolles along with a few other chicks and I was so distracted by my kids lol that I never even noticed the chick didn't have feathers on their legs or 5 toes! I DID notice their color seemed dark to me but I hadn't ever seem faverolle chicks in person. So fast forward a few days when I realized my chicks were imposters haha I called back Estes...There wasn't much they could do for me since I had driven home (a few hours away) except give me a credit to my account. The lady said they chicks could be red sex links or wellsummers. For the past few days I had thought they were wellsummers. I ordered all pullets and she said they would still be all pullets dispite the mix up. So here I am researching wellsummers and I come across a picture of a speckled sussex chick and viola! It hit me. These 2 are SS. And I really think this one I'm showing here is a male.
The funny part about this story is that I was already in contact with a SS breeder and was thinking about getting some but wasn't sure if it was the right breed for me lol! I guess the universe is telling me yes!
So am I right? This is the chick I think is a boy, the other 2 have more eyeliner, a little less yellow on the breast and are starting to get little s
pots on their shoulders...
