Fuzzy's Farm

YES! Chickie chickie chickie!

I am thinking we need to do a road trip and head on down and snag some of Pi apples.

RBahmer, I am seriously considering talking Jace into letting me get rid of the pair... I hope he grows out of the jerk-a-puss-butt-head stage REAL QUICK! Sheesh, who would have thought those littel buggers would be so vicious!

Did anyone see the thread about decrowing roosters? I watched the vid of the duckwing crowing... Poor guy sounds like a cartoon squeaker now. I can see the benefit, but... Well I am seriously screwed up. I like roosters crowing. It is so quiet in my yard now. Rod Stewart is not a big crower. He does a few times a day. BUT I always enjoyed listening to him and his group, and Roger and his group, and of course Mr. Fluffers and his group, Crowing to each other from different areas of the yard. LOL, and then getting the neighbors roos crowing also!

Well, I did find I have one problem with the feeders... The little serema hen has a hard time eating. I am going to keep one of the original hanging feeders I bought, but I am going to modify it a bit. I am thinking a canvas catch all attached to it... I will post a pic of what I mean when I finish making it. Frick a frack.. I am going to have to thread my teeny tiny sewing machine. Fuzzy, do you have a standard sewing machine that will penatrate canvas?

I'll give you the TREES if you send me some Pumpkin pie lol.

I'm kind of at a standstill since I ran out of jars. That's why I'm doing the leather now, plus it takes like 6 hours.:th. I did a bunch of dried apples, but my family ate them in as long as it took me to make them!

So, once I get jars and some time I'm doing:

Apple butter
Apple juice and cider
Dried apples
More apple leather
Pie filling
And I had something else but I can't remember it now... at least there's a lot of things I can make with the apples.

LOL! Well there is one thing that you know for certain. What's in the apple products you make yourself. You know, for a kid, you know a heck of a lot more about homesteading in this regard. Not a lot of kids even care in my circle of the world. I want to learn how to do that sort of stuff also, but first I have to get enough food to grow to do it... That we don't eat as fast as it is ripe that is. LOL.

Aww, ty Nova. My parents aren't exactly crazy about my DIY kick (I can't reallly blame them, this weekend they'll come home to a ton of apples and a bunch of yarn made from plastic Walmart bags), but they aren't exactly complaining about all the applesauce either lol.

I've always wanted to learn how to do canning and be self-sufficient, but my parent's were always telling me I was just going to make a mess. Now that they work, I can do more stuff like that, as long as I clean it up........and do the dishes....

I'm confused today. More than usual anyway :p

Lockdown means that you quit turning the eggs at the beginning of the day, or the end? Do i up the humidity tonight, or tomorrow morning???

Deep breaths. On Day 18, when you get a few minutes, take the eggs out of the turner, and add your lockdown water all at the same time. Don't worry about the time of day. It's not rocket science or cake baking so you don't have to be exact. ;)

Remember: hens do this in as many different circumstances and environments as there are hens.
