It was a GORGEOUS day today, so I went out and took some pics:

:)
I like these two  :)  I like sunset pics and i always wished i could live in one of those bitty houses that no one wants any more.

Thanks, yeah, we have a lot of pretty sunsets. :)

It's actually an old one room schoolhouse, but I think the owner will have it restored someday and turn it in to a community center of sorts. There's only a few families out here, and we're all pretty far apart, but it's very tight knit. Hopefully we'll be able to use it the way they would've in the 1800s when it was built, for parties and dancing and music. :)

I love those pics, MsB.  Reminds me of growing up in Kansas actually.  The landscape was much the same.  And I do love old buildings!!! Who knows what history/stories were housed there.

Where in Kansas did you grow up? :). Yeah, I love historic places/things. There's actually an old cemetery just east of this, and it's VERY old. I've been researching all the people in there, and I've made quite a bit of progress. But a lot of the people are infants with no other family. Those are the most difficult to trace, but I have found some, and even distantly connected them to other families buried there. But anyways, in my research I came across a lot of info on this schoolhouse, all the teachers, some students, records of the events held there, etc. etc. It fascinates me; I've actually gotten attached to a lot of the people and places I've researched. It's almost a disappointment when I realize that even after all the wonderful stories I've read about them, they've been dead for a hundred years. But I think it's kind of amazing, that I'm able to dig up all these stories and information about people that almost everyone had forgotten. I love it. :)

I grew up in the southwest corner of Kansas in a tiny town called Plains. It was so flat you could see the next town 28 miles away. I hated it because the wind would blow and the dust would be so thick you couldn't see or breathe. However, I spent most of my time on my grandparents ranch and near there was an old church and cemetery. I would ride my horse over and look at the graves of pioneers who crossed Kansas in wagons. Things like "My baby girl" would be the only thing on a stone. Makes you sad to think that some mother lost her child in that inhospitable place. Much, much later after I had grown and left and my grandparents had died, my aunt sold the ranch. The people who bought it burned down the old church and plowed the graveyard. It's only wheatland now. Such a shame.

Well, I'M french, indian, german, and possibly irish, though it's not listed (irish eyes, the laugh lines) This makes me feisty, tempermental, nit-picky (Germans are known for quality craftmanship for a reason).........The indian was really far back but our family still carries the high cheekbones, the almost spiritual connection with all things plant and animal.. :) Whatever guy got the indian gal was really enamored- he got 5-yes 5! Indian wives

What kinds of indian were predominant in MI? I have considered naming my mutt creations in native indian language; I want something that means "one with the earth, pure of heart, .........." But i can't think of a simple way to describe it. My coop logo is a family of birds for a reason, To me it represents the balance that was a natural part of the wild chicken's life...................And the green of course was connection with the earth and a humerous thought of the old show "green acres" . :)

Speaking of colors, do you have a use for a quart of silver paint Nova? If it's still good it is kinda like a chrome; it's not a grey but a billion metallic particles, I painted a rock and it looked like metal! I got it curbside, but with my green i want peach and wood tones, gold if anything else............But it's too neat to throw away!

Indian's of Michigan... Most spoke native Algonquian.. Several tribes with in the Algonquian Nation were
Potowatomi... Fox and Sauk... Ojibwa... Kickapoo... Miami... Menominee... Later you had the Huron and the Ottowa...

Our area however, is Potowatomi predominately.

The closest I can figure for pure of heart, would be an innocent, or clean... Penakwet (pen ack wat)
Chicken is Ka'akwe (ka ack we)
I couldn't find One with earth... but I did find one of red earth.... Washa... just like it looks...

Very pretty when spoken! Innocent or clean would be right, clean can be a pure spirit because it hasn't been tainted- Animals are pure spirits to me. Just like young children :)

The chicken part is kinda touch and go, because when you sound it out............well that's the technical name for a rooster but it would require a bit of explanation to anyone, lol.

so "spirit", or "love"??? After all, i'm making huggers....................lol. Like a bunch of tiny feathered kids...............Can you see it? Instead of having one or two that come to see you it will be more like getting mobbed by the whole flock, lol. But kids would love it!

The ones i have now will come running, but it's primarily to see if there's food involved. :( I liked my huggers. They didn't care about the food unless it came with attention! :)
