Fuzzy's Farm

the city came today- ON A SATURDAY- and told me I have one week to get rid of my chickens.

I WAS fighting mad, now I am just crushed.

I dont bother a soul. I hang out in my backyard with my birds, and we bother nobody. I am so hurt that someone called. I put up with EVERYTHING in this neighborhood, just so I dont make waves..and have for fourteen years. Now though, someone so much as farts, I am calling the city.

So, because I want to be left alone- I am going to make a BIG HUGE production of moving my birds out. I will put them in cages in the front yard, and make sure the maximum number of people see me load them into the truck. Then I am going to move them to Robins' for a few weeks.

Then, I am bringing them back.

I will clear out their everything. Then - my husband said we will screen their whole area, falcon-proof it, and make sure the window to my utilty room is INSIDE the screened in area. If the city asks, we will say its the Cats pen. A way for them to go out.

My heart is broken really. I dont know who did it- its easy to blame my new next door neighbors. But on the flip side, its easy for someone to call, knowing I would blame the new people.

I had a great visit at Robins' and am grateful that she is my friend and someone I can take the chickens and roosters too. Thats where I was when the city came- delivering Chicken Little to Robins' house.
It will be ok Kim. The chickens will be fine. Look at it this way.....just another excuse to come and see me lol. I soooo enjoyed today when you and Kayla was here. :)
Just got back from work and popped in here and there's only 4 unread posts!

Oh, wait. It's Saturday. LOL

Mom2, that sucks. Some people have nothing better to do in their lives but to cause grief for others and stick their noses where they don't belong. Hope everything works out for you.

So I stopped to pick up a couple bales of hay today for the goats and the price was raised to $6/bale. What the????? I'm starting to really get fed up with this farm raising the price every time I go. They were only $2.50 in 2011, then raised to $5 during last years drought. That's an initial 100% mark-up followed by a 20% one now. Geesh. Looks like I need to start looking for a cheaper place to buy from even though this place is just super convenient because I go by there every time I work.
Consider yourself lucky on the $6.00. Around here it is going for a lot more. The round bales I used too pay $35.00 for is now $100.00.

I wanted to get some cream legbars and some swedish flower hens this year to hatch out... not sure I am going to be able to get an icubator this year... I really wanted to build one.
I think I will wait until chickenstock and pick up chicks there.
I might gets some ISAs cause I heard they lay nice... and some EEs.
I think I asked RIRJen to keep a pair of partridge silkie girls for me... my roo needs some girls.
In all I think I will walk out with 6 chicks... And this time I will pick the strongest of the bunch... not the runts... like I always do. I can't take the heartbreak this year like I did with my poor Nuggeter. I loveyed him.

I want some Cream Legbars.

Yup got both. Its just that one hen again. And! She is only sneezing now. None of the others are. I decided to double the A first, use the higher dosage. If it starts going around again, I will put it back in the water instead.

I don't like the sound of rain... That could make work not nice at all.

I went to work last night, it was 42f out. Wind was picking up, felt about 32f, not to bad. BUT I read the forecast and knew it was going to plummet and get really super windy! I managed to get all the customers I have to deliver to doors done before it got real bad. Kept the blanket over my legs and ended up having to dig out my grippy gloves. I got home about 5 am, the trash can was tipped over and blown back towards the coop. The wheel barrow was blown over and down the hill a bit. A largish tree branch was in my parking place. Some skids that I had place against the west wall of the run had fallen over and part of the plastic had come loose on the east side of the run near the door. Can you believe all the birds were up in the run? At 5:15am! Yeah, not kidding. I mean, I knew the roosters liked to start crowing at that time, but I didn't realise they were all down and about so early. OF course I had never really checked on them that early either. SO, anyway, here I am stapling the plastic back up, used a crap load of staples. Put the skids back up, and leaned them on a steeper angle. Picked the ice out of the side of the waterer that the lamp doesn't heat, and then got my rear end in the house to let the dogs out. They didn't go where they should.. They relieved themselves on the deck instead of going down to the yard. Great.. Now I will have frozen dog turds on the deck. GO dogs! LOL, can't blame them. That wind is wicked.

Well anyway, calling for 6 inches in the next few hours. I hope my hoops hold up.

Robin-
visiting you is something I dont need an excuse for- I love you bunches.

I am super female dog now. When "they" steal my peace and tranquility- thats all thats left. I called the police on a group of young kids yesterday. First call of many. Hope the city is ready for me.

These were a group of four boys about 10-12 with paint ball guns, or bb guns. They saw me looking out my door. (Actually I was casting evil spells on my neighbors silently) and when the boys saw me looking, they all sat on the curb across from my house. "challenging me". I didnt leave my door- I watched them. Until the one boy pointed toward my illegal tractor and pretended to shoot it. Then I stepped out and told them to take it down the road. Punk wanna-be #1 told me it was a public street. And they have the right to sit there. I told them, "Yep you sure do". Then I whipped out my cellphone and called 911. Described them, told the cops what they did and said, then I hung up." Punk #1 said it again. "Its a public street- we dont have to leave". And I said, "Yep. It is. Sit back down," The other three boys took off running- at least I know they are smarter but punk #1 said, "Guys she said we can sit back down." heh heh heh heh...but he took off running with the rest of them.

Once the cops were here, they talked to me about the tractor, and I told them we had to move it. They were bummed about it. The one cop told me they took their pictures next to it. Asked me if the neighbors across the street were still feuding...yep. Asked me about the drunk next door neighbor- told them he moved. Really good guys. Its a shame they are going to have to be sick of me by the time summer comes along.
If I cant be happy, nobody on my street is going to be happy doing what they do..with the exception of the 92 year old man two doors down. He is going to be able to leaf-blow his yard at 6 a.m whenever he wants. I wont bother them.

When animal control comes here on Saturday, I am going to file a complaint about the two shar peis that live two doors down behind me. They NEVER EVER stop barking and wreck my mood all summer,,,the pitbull two doors down is never quiet, and kitty-corner behind me, the chihuahua never quits barking when he is out...oh, and while I am at it, the two wolf-hybrids across the street always howl throughout the night and it ummm....its 'intimidating'. yeah, thats it.
