It will be ok Kim. The chickens will be fine. Look at it this way.....just another excuse to come and see me lol. I soooo enjoyed today when you and Kayla was here.the city came today- ON A SATURDAY- and told me I have one week to get rid of my chickens.
I WAS fighting mad, now I am just crushed.
I dont bother a soul. I hang out in my backyard with my birds, and we bother nobody. I am so hurt that someone called. I put up with EVERYTHING in this neighborhood, just so I dont make waves..and have for fourteen years. Now though, someone so much as farts, I am calling the city.
So, because I want to be left alone- I am going to make a BIG HUGE production of moving my birds out. I will put them in cages in the front yard, and make sure the maximum number of people see me load them into the truck. Then I am going to move them to Robins' for a few weeks.
Then, I am bringing them back.![]()
I will clear out their everything. Then - my husband said we will screen their whole area, falcon-proof it, and make sure the window to my utilty room is INSIDE the screened in area. If the city asks, we will say its the Cats pen. A way for them to go out.
My heart is broken really. I dont know who did it- its easy to blame my new next door neighbors. But on the flip side, its easy for someone to call, knowing I would blame the new people.
I had a great visit at Robins' and am grateful that she is my friend and someone I can take the chickens and roosters too. Thats where I was when the city came- delivering Chicken Little to Robins' house.
Consider yourself lucky on the $6.00. Around here it is going for a lot more. The round bales I used too pay $35.00 for is now $100.00.Just got back from work and popped in here and there's only 4 unread posts!Oh, wait. It's Saturday. LOL![]()
Mom2, that sucks. Some people have nothing better to do in their lives but to cause grief for others and stick their noses where they don't belong. Hope everything works out for you.
So I stopped to pick up a couple bales of hay today for the goats and the price was raised to $6/bale. What the????? I'm starting to really get fed up with this farm raising the price every time I go. They were only $2.50 in 2011, then raised to $5 during last years drought. That's an initial 100% mark-up followed by a 20% one now. Geesh. Looks like I need to start looking for a cheaper place to buy from even though this place is just super convenient because I go by there every time I work.
I want some Cream Legbars.I wanted to get some cream legbars and some swedish flower hens this year to hatch out... not sure I am going to be able to get an icubator this year... I really wanted to build one.
I think I will wait until chickenstock and pick up chicks there.
I might gets some ISAs cause I heard they lay nice... and some EEs.
I think I asked RIRJen to keep a pair of partridge silkie girls for me... my roo needs some girls.
In all I think I will walk out with 6 chicks... And this time I will pick the strongest of the bunch... not the runts... like I always do. I can't take the heartbreak this year like I did with my poor Nuggeter. I loveyed him.
1muttsfan has them, but she is not sure they will be laying by april... which is when I would want to set them... so I will wait on thoseI want some Cream Legbars.
