Fuzzy's Farm

Morning, Nova and Fuzzy. I'm sorry about your car, Fuzzy. Neighbors "borrowing" things can be a real problem. In my previous place, after my first DH passed away, I had a neighbor like that. I think he thought "well, there's no guy around and SHE won't be using tools". I made it VERY clear to him that I'm the one who always used tools. DH didn't know how. Still had problems with him until I moved. I got mean and locked everything so he couldn't get to it.

Really windy here. Looks like tornado weather but that usually doesn't start until March. Weird weather! Even the goats are hesitant about coming out in the wind but the girls don't mind. I opened a bale of hay for them to dig around in and they were having the best time ever. I think it was you, Fuzzy, ? that mentioned the book "The small scale poultry flock". I've been reading it and it's sooo good. He suggest using litter in the run if they can't free range so I'm doing hay and leaves. Should give them lots to scratch around in.

Wish you were closer, Fuzzy. I'm selling my mom's one bed condo for 25,000. It probably wouldn't work 'cause there's really no place to keep chickens on the grounds but it's a good price for someone.

Nova, how's your headache? What's bringing them on?

wasn't me on that book, i haven't read that one yet but have heard it's good. I like the "poultry health handbook" for learning about health stuff.

I wonder if anyone's written a book about chicken body language and the wierd stuff they do? lol. There is a magazine i saw on the stand yesterday that wants stories of why you got into chickens, i don't know if anyone really wants my version, lol. Fuzzy little faces, little snugglers. I am totally gonna make a chicken diaper and keep my little hope in the house, it's the least i can do since her mom was slated to be my house pet; poor girl just didn't make it until i found work.

You should send in an article! I haven't read the poultry health book - this one is more generic and probably one of the best books I've read on chickens.

I would love to have a house chicken like Hope. Wouldn't work here as we have too many dogs.

This is such a cool site for chicken coop ideas. http://www.houzz.com/chicken-coop/p/24 Makes me drool... I just ordered the babies for spring - YAY!

Morning Gigi.

Looks like all our flock has decided to go outside today. It's nice to see the yard crowded with chickens again. They've been keeping to the coop pretty much lately.

All mine are out in the yard too. I had to take my ma to the bone/boob clinic today. I should have let them out when I was leaving, but thought we were running late, and it turned out we were 30 minutes early. BUT they got us out of there by the time her second appt was supposed to start. So it worked out.

The reason I say not to change the filter, I have changed filters and then had the slippage become even worse. My friend Joe just changed his out and he had the same thing. Wasn't slipping before, but slips now. He put the lucas in and it did help, so, just be warned if you decide to change it. I would just change the plugs, make it look nice and sell it, or start saving for a tranny rebuild so when/if it gets real bad, you can be ready.

NO! Don't do a filter change unless you have lucus lube for transmissions.

RaZ posted a link for USDA loans. You might be able to get one for up to 35 grand for the purchase of a home farm. I know there are properties up that away that have those prices... Look into it.

Ok... now back to the car. Drain/suck out a quart of tranny fluid. Put in the quart of lucas for transmissions. Trust me on this one. Being a paper carrier for 15 years has taught me a few things... It'll get you through for quite some time. If you are still smelling gas in your oil, get the lucas for the engine. It'll help protect it. Use a quart EVERY oil change
Motor Kote works great have used it in everything from my animal clippers to the semi-truck. Saved the transfer case in my Tahoe when I had a leak and it went dry. Ex-SIL is a GM mechanic said that is probably what saved it. My other SIL puts it in everything from snowplow trucks to mud bog trucks to the snowmobiles. Helps everything run cooler. Put it in the oil 2 oz per quart will last through THREE oil changes. The spray works better than WD- 40 or 80 We love the product. We put the spray on the under side of the 52" mower deck only had to scrape it out once last year. Also we have sprayed the snow shovels and snow blower, the snow won't stick. DD sprayed it on the bottom of kids sleds made for an epic day.

Check it out at motorkote.com A little pricey but worth it. You can buy it at Meijer, alot of truck stops or on line they have deals.

Rusty... I can just imagine... LOL

Headache is still there. Not as bad as last night, but there. I am going to go and make me a pot of joe here in a minute. If I knew I could make it your way and back before Jace got out of school, I would come and get Chicken little. Ekta has already moved herself into the garage. I thought I would be using my garage for the jeep... Well anyway, she's ditched the big birds and It would be the opportune time to get her eggs knocked up...

My new babies. Hope and pray Skatter accepts them. Otherwise I'll be raising babies...
Awwww how cute they are. Love them
