Fuzzy's Farm

Well, I might have to put my Florus down. I just found him in the broody coop, on his side and his head at a cocked angle. He can't hold it up straight. He is not struggling to fight me either. I have a feeling that he got cornered in there by Rod Stewart and Rod Stewart kicke his butt. ... If Rod Stewart wasn't such a good boy to the girls and to me and the kids... I hope Florus pulls through...

how is he doing today? Any better? Box and support towels maybe. Hand feed and water for a day........ Idk if the other one is a good boy, to attack to that point when free ranging doesn't bode well. If they were confined, perhaps. But free, means he went to far Imo. I only had one roo do that, and he ended up being aggressive to other birds later on, including his hen. She got too scared to eat around him, even; remember the one that ended up going on a songbird killing spree? That was the one, had DH put him down. Very discouraging, that was.
*** going out to hide Mr Feathers so Nova can't find him ***. Lol
ha ha ha

Hi all! same ol same ol around here.
Going to put in an app in a temp agency today, if things go well.

Mon my car had to be in the shop, blew a brake line coming home sun! That was scarey. I had slowed down since a dad and looked like a kintergarten girl were walking, and the dogs across the street darted out at the last second when my car was right up to them! I attempted to lock up my brakes, and the dang thing blew with a mighty pop! But dogs and girl were OK.
Having DH's uncle do my brakes was a mistake, last fall because i don't thing he bled the lines. (Could have been why the line blew? Looked brand new even before it blew) I had attributed the bouncing brake pedal to the bad rotors, but since i have gotten it back from the shop it hasn't bounced, same crappy rotors! So live and learn, i guess. :(
Nova, wanna earn a few bucks, LOL. (still need brakes and rotors done all the way around) :p Sad thing is, i payed $40 bucks to have the pads put on, and come to find out it's just a couple bolts to take off to put the pads on............ Uugh. I need to learn to do the brakes, that's all there is! Been trying to wait for good weather.

Other than that, just lots of working and trying to save, very careful thrifting for when i get a place :) Still haven't started on the chandelier, because i can't decide on "the look". I like peach, but don't know if the whole thing should be! Beads will probably come down to what i can afford/ find. Clear jewel ones are by far the cheapest, with the colored ones being super expensive! But i like the jewel looking ones and the ones that look like peachy-pink pearls. :) So i could paint the thing a very pale pastel peach, or a warm vanilla (between white and beige) , and then i could go between pink or clear beads, or both............ oh the decisions! But i am going to proceed with caution because the look i'm going for is a cream/ beige centered home with tasteful bits of color (mainly pale pink :p ) Kinda boring, but not....I'm imagining a getaway place, clean and restful, which it ultimately will BE. :)

Florus is crowing up a storm in the kitchen... I honestly fully expected to find him dead this morning. Then I hear his deep rumbly crow. YAY! I got some bread and egg yolk in him, a bit more poultry drench and water. Going to feed him ever few hours for the next few days. I think I need to move him out of my kitchen too. I need to work on a quicky enclosure in the garage for him. I have a heat lamp that I can put over his area, so all will be good keeping him warm. I am going to get video of him too.

I was wondering if a fight like this can have caused sudden wry neck? He was holding his head up, the neck feel a bit swollen? on one side... it is easy for me to straighten and he can hold it up for several minutes while he's eating and I am holding him... kinda have to hold him a bit curved ? for his head to stay at a normal angle, and he can eat and drink them on his own if I hold it up to him. He's still not struggling against me. He must know I am just trying to help.

As for Rod Stewart. Rod Stewart only has a problem with Florus. He didn't have a problem with any of the other Rocker Boys, Those being Billy, Sting and David. He wouldn't even freak when David would mount one of his hens. The only roo that pecked at them was Fritz the Jerk. But for some reason, he just HATES Florus. If Florus hadn't gone into the broody coop, he woudn't have been trapped. There are no physical injuries on him, just the neck. Oh, and crap load of broke off feathers. Rod Stewart is a Roger/Buffy offspring. Roger was a wonderful guy roo too. So, he comes from mellow stock. It's just Florus.

Wry neck is a mix of stress and vitamin deficiency... try to get some selenium and vit E in him too with the poultry drench and his food.

I let Nugget go too long before I figured out what I had to do and before I started doing it right. I still feel terrible that he had to be culled, but he had no quality of life and that really wasn't fair.

Well, I figured on adding selenium and e just to be on the safe side, regardless that this is injury induced... I am uploading a video of the escape artist right now. ALSO one of the mama's and chicks. LOL.

I made the bugger a pen in the garage with 2 wood sides, the wall of the garage, chicken wire front and TOP. He still got out. Took himself back to his coop and pen with his girls.

Florus didn't want to be in the garage.. I found him back in his pen... guess I will leave him confined to his pen. Will go and pull fresh greens for him and the ladies... Keep giving him his vits and hope he continues to keep his head in an upright position... Going to have to build a door on the other side so him and the ladies can get out, and have an area to themselves.

I just had too many good ones...
Leap Squirrel!

A few mentioned it without quoting the pic.

My dog Noah (That got attacked on Fri) had a hemotoma (sp) in his ear... I thought it might be infected so I opened the scab... OMG that was the wrong thing to do!!!!!

The blood that was from the broken vessels in his ear pooled up and came squirting out like catsup EVERYWHERE!!!! I filled a whole washrag with it!!!!!!!
I was soooo grossed out and began to panic when I couldn't get it to stop and he shook blood all over the bathroom.

I ran to get steptic powder and plugged the hole back up. It hasn't bled ever since!!! THANK GOODNESS!
I called the vet to find out how much it would be to repair the broken vessels (read that is the best way to repair) and they said 2-3 HUNDRED DOLLARS!!!!
REALLY!!! For maybe 4-6 stitches that go on the outside of the ear???? He would not have to be opened at all!!!!
I cried and called several more places. None would bill me... I have to apply for a medical credit card... the vet would see me but would not be able to do anything without payment, is what the lady told me!!!!
He is doing okay right now and the ear has not swelled back up like it was.
Now, I have 2 dogs in crates not allowed to run around... both are miserable.

My MIL posted something rude on FB...
BF and I are scraping the barrel right now... So, I have posted a few things on FB that are just taking up room...
She commented "Are you taking apart your home bit by bit to scrape by?"
YES!!!! Yes I am!!!

Did I mention I am PMSing and everything is so much more emotional than it should be right now?
