Fuzzy's Farm

She's 17. The portrait was actually picked to be in a school art showcase this past year.

You know my DH said that goats were awesome for getting rid of thorny vines because they would eat them, but when I tried to give a few to our goats this past summer to see if they really would, they only ate the leaves. That pretty much solved that mystery for me of why the heck they would even eat them in the first place. Ha ha, they don't. At least not mine.
I agree. Ours only ate the leave too. In fact, when we were cutting them in the pasture they would follow us around waiting for the leaves that were pulled down from the trees. My hope is that when the vines grow back in the spring the goats will eat the tender new growth and get rid of them that way. They were killers to cut and get rid of.

Do you have supplemental lighting for them? Some are more sensitive to light than others.
I got ZERO eggs today. 40 hens that I'm 100% SHOULD be laying, and not a single egg today. They have a nest somewhere. And I'm going to find it...........
No. I read that supplementing light actually shortens their lifespan so decided not to. It's not really a problem as we give a lot of our eggs away so if we don't have many, people just don't get them - lol.

I like your pics too, everyone, so feel free to paint away! One of these days i'll get myself in a mood and do my bird's portraits.

I want to do one of my pet hen and roo that i lost last summer. Be a long time before i can hang it and not be totally depressed to see it, but i still want it. For all the pics i have of them i never got a GOOD one with the both of them together, where you could see the look in their eyes. To me they will forever be a love story, and they are the reason i got into chickens so it is something i need to do.

Okay, here's my saga for the day...I ran two splinters pretty deep into my finger before Christmas and went to minor emergency where they dug in it and couldn't get anything out. I've been on antibiotics but the finger has gotten infected and swollen. DH made me go in to the regular doctor today who in turn sent me over to the orthopedist who looked at it who made noises about surgery and sent me to get an MRI. So did that for 2 hrs and then to get blood work. ALL FOR SPLINTER that I got lemon oiling the coffee table. AND I'm about 2000.00 poorer (and that doesn't include the orthopedist bill) and still nothing has been done to my finger which is swollen and oozing. Teaches me not to clean house!!! I guess they will call tomorrow. 2012 was pretty bad but 2013 isn't starting off great. I'm having a pity party here.

Ouch. Hope that heals up for you.
I spent my day loafing and then at the mechanics for an oil change. DH said should only take 30-40 minutes. Nope. 2 1/2 hours. For an oil change. I took a book (currently reading Odd Hours- Dean Koontz), but I was SO bored. And I got so thirsty, but nothing was available and I got a huge headache. And they had the tv set to the worst station that was finishing an awful beat-em-up movie before moving onto a movie called Machete which I thought was equally bad. Ugh!
I did follow it up, though, with a trip to Coldstone Creamery. Figured I deserved a treat after all that. Mint oreo ice cream. Yum!
