Fuzzy's Farm

I want to get a mister this year. I am thinking that if I keep leaves in the run, though, and dampen them down often, it'll keep cool spots everywhere. I am seriously thinking of a dark screen/shade type thing on the east facing wall, of the run, keep the heat out a bit more, but still let air pass... I'll figure it out...

Hi River, welcome to the thread.

I suck at this!!!! Sorry everyone! Just can't seem to get it right!! Sorry teeville5!added to your post someway!
That's okay. I saw it. I think for the first timer it can seem super hard and scary to start. I was so timid with them at first and scared to even touch them, but had no choice because there is no way you can clean a brooder or box without having to touch them. Once I got used to it, it was no problem at all.
Neighbors lost all of their birds because they kept them in a pen with no shade or other relief and then wondered why they died.
Definitely have to make sure they have a refuge from the sun and heat. We have bushes and small trees they go under not to mention they have free access to the barn. I spray down the bushes and trees with water in the morning and during the day for them and give them frozen goodies. And we also have numerous water spots all over the yard for them to drink from that we refill a few times to keep it fresh.

going to see Robin in the morning!!

I froze my rear off today=- babysitting the chickens. Stoopid falcon kept flying overhead, even with me out there...poor scared little Showgirl, cowering next to her food dish. I stretched the shade cloth from a dog kennel over the area right in front of their coop- to give them sort of a sheild. And know what? Them birds stayed right under it, til they went to bed in their coop. :)

Get an old hose and poke some pin holes in it and turn the water on low... Instant mister!
