Fuzzy's Farm

Cool photos, Nova. I love the turkeys and your girls walking down the paths.

I agree with Nova, Fuzzy. It's really important to have a long term work record so if you can stick it out it would help you in the long run. It sounds like you've got a good plan... I lived alone for four years after my first husband died and I really enjoyed it. It's a kind of freedom. (Not that I'd give up DH to go back to those days, lol)

Our Atwoods took all their baby chicks and put them in one tank under the sign "Mixed Pullets". People are really going to be upset because they want to know what breeds they are getting. Don't know why they did that except maybe didn't want to set up smaller brooders. Lazy!

Hi Rusty. How are you doing?

Had to stop in our TSC for feed tonight so I got a chance to view the chicks they have in. They were all cute, but I really didn't get an urge to get any which is good since I wasn't planning to this year. They didn't have many breeds, but the tanks were full. Silly wyandottes were hanging out in two groups. One under the light just hanging out and the other all huddled on the cold side freaking out when you looked at them. At any rate, all cute, but just not wanting to deal with the mess of chicks.

Hi everyone.

Ive been gone.

Not really. Just working, sick, working, then I went to Lansing for Wildlife CE- attempting to get my own permit for rehab instead of working under someone else (my city shouldnt have pee'd me off- Im a rebel like that). I passed the certification tests- just have to prepare caging then get a DNR inspection.

Teeville, I hope your daughter is doing okay- I am nine million pages behind, no way to catch up. (((hugs)))

Robin- have you posted pictures of the lambs?

Pimento been around?

Hi Rusty!!

Fuzzy- have you found a place to move? Have you decided to take your girls with you? Let me tell you, once youve had the chickens, not having them is just too sad. I hope you are able to find a place to have them.

I have two frizzle chicks that I have to place somewhere. They are most probably roos, but I am only telling you all that. I think i am going to put an ad on Craigslist.
I say this because the one feathered out really quick and these two did not. SO, roo potential- plus, well, I hatched them, so that increased their roo odds by like 90%.

Tomorrow is my birthday, Tonight we are going to eat at Joe's Crab Shack then going out for a little while til my bedtime. Im old and just dont have the desire to be out til the sun comes up. As my kid says, "I cant hang".

IM sure it would have looked comical to anyone watching, however it was not for me- I went out to the coop to feed and water the quail. Somehow between 230 and now, the light was unplugged- so as soon as I opened the door, it was COLD in there and all the quail came popping out- I was scooping and tossing them back in as fast as I could- and trying to shut the door to come up with Plan B...Jiffy pop popcorn. I lost two- and when i came back out with a full waterer, they were both standing right by the coop. a male and a female. I set the water down, the female came over and I scooped her up. The male ran under the coop.

I will TRY to get him after I give him a break to calm down. No promises though- he is pretty determined that he wants to sacrifice himself. I have a long-handle net and as long as he comes within the reach of that, i can get him. However, he just ducks back under the coop. So, I am not sure if I am going to get him or not.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM 2! I so understand the "can't hang". lol

Hope you've got him, little bugger...

thanks. Nope, not yet- Im not holding my breath.

I know it sounds mean, but I think half of them are male in there, and long-term they cant live together. Hes a little jerk who flew out and and away. I keep looking out there, havent seen him at all. I am hoping to get him before the cat does, but in reality, he may not even be back there any longer. Could have 'ran for the hills". Or in his case, flown for them. I went out there a bit ago to see if I could find him and slid on the ice on the back steps and almost killed myself. I thought with the sounds of the other quail he would make himself seen/stay close. But nope. I hope he shows up so I can put him back in, but if he doesnt- well, it was his own doing.

My fish is dying. I am frustrated. I do all the partial water changes, gravel cleaning, temp, etc. to keep this tank thriving. I need a bigger tank. I want a bigger tank. I cant justify buying a huge tank, but I want one. They are much easier to keep thriving than a stupid 20 gallon. So, now my Flowerhorn is swimming head down, tail up. Not really swimming- more like bobbing along. And here it is stuck. Stuck between being alive and being dead. I dont know what to do for it. Anyone know fish med? Perhaps he needs fish euthanasia at this point. I feel bad for him :(

tetracycline... aquariam salt also. I have my poor suicidal gold fish, you know, the feeder type that aren't meant to last forever, alone in a 5 gallon tank. I need a bigger tank. BUT property taxes need ot be finished first.

th
Happy Birthday Kim!

I gave up. My fish is in a cup. Waiting to be dead. It was past 'almost dead'. I cleaned out the tank- removed most of the gravel, cleaned all the gravel left in the tank, three quarter water change, aquarium salt, new filter medium...new decor and new fish. I got myself two Jack Dempseys. Little bitties. Aptly named em Jack and Jill.

Never have found the quail- I am about to shower and then go to Joe's Crabshack. I will go look for quail foot prints before dark- we got about an inch of snow fresh this morning. :(

Thanks for the happy birthday wishes :)
