Fuzzy's Farm

She'll be one very lonely girl if she's all alone while you are at work.. Sorry you are having such a hard time finding a place... Have you tried putting up a want ad? Like.. Wanted, house or apartment to rent where I can keep my 6 birds. $350-$400 a month. I am quiet and keep to myself.... see what happens. Might be someone who has a loft apt or even a mother in law suite that is like a studio apt... I lived in a mother in law suite, was just the perfect size for one person. Paid $450 a month, they paid all utilities and cable. All I had to do was have my own phone.

Glad the Goats doing better! Thank god for the love of a human that cared enough to care for it! Nova love the pictures! My sisters bringing me some silkie chicks when she comes and some not sure here? Leg builders, lake builders? Anyway supposed to be a big sized chicken! Hope the water is drying up for you all? We are getting rain again today,:( :( tired of rain myself! Everyone have a great day

Lakenvelders? LOL. Yes, it was drying up, then it rained all night. There was a bit of standing water in the yard today, but not anywhere near the coops. YAY!

Ok, I got the wooden planks out of my rear compartment finally. I have 3 different sizes, ranging from 3.5 feet long to 4 feet long. At least that's what I am approximating by looking at them. Can't find my tape measure. I have boys. They like to measure things. Take it how you want. LOL. ANYWAY, 26 of those are 4 feet. 10 are a few inches shorter than that and 16 are 3.5. 52 in total. Close to 60, but I was approximating that number as well as I was loading. LOL. I just looked and said... hmmm. bout 60. I am good. HAHA

SO. I have a 3x4 heavy rear skid out there that is made of this wood. I might use that as the floor for the new coop. I might not. I might decide to built a 4x6 floor frame and and start from there. ALTHOUGH having planks on the floor instead of a solid floor might leave room for spilled water to drain through, but it might also leave room for mites to hang out. I am going to caulk all the sides prior to painting... Maybe I will just do a solid linoleum floor. Oh decisions, decisions. ALSO, got a roof! Yeah a nice big solid one peice for sale sign. Will of course paint that and seal it all the way around, but hey, water ain't going to go through this sucker.

SO... any idea's for how to build this thing? The planks are 1.5 inchx5.5 inch wide... (yeah, like they'd really be 2x6 even though that's what it says in the store, those liars.) Need to find an old window too.. Like from an old house...

How big a window? I still have those big ones hanging out in the yard! ( the ones that were chest high on me, 2 of them! ) Hardware cloth would be easily screwed down since they are wooden frames, and could be painted to match the rest. And that plastic-y stuff is still stacked out back, i think! The designs i saw that i liked for a coop involved building a frame, then nailing the 1x6's along the frame, trimmed to fit on the ends. Looked like beadboard, most gaps were minimal but enough to give ventilation, you know? Or you could line the interior.

I still don't think i'll ever put insulation in a coop, it sounds great but the gap between walls is a major mouse haven. I had another drowned mouse in my water dish AGAIN. Happens off and on all year, not to mention all the lost feed :(

Working on changing things, put my app in a temp agency today. Told her i'd hold out for a decent job, since i have an OK one already. I've worked through them before, and they've done me good then. Also i'm putting in another app for a place, this one is the one bedroom house; the one that charges pet fees, but if you look at the want ads you'll see why i'm so desperate; no one wants to give pets a chance anymore! First i gotta pass muster somewhere, then when i've proven myself perhaps the birds can come.........

I bought a "lucky scarf" today to make me smile as i go about my stressful day; It is white with little blackbirds all over! I feel silly because i don't know how to work with the whole dress scarf thing but it makes me smile when i look at it, so....... :) I've often heard how people respond to positivity with positivity, so here goes....

Started construction on the new coop tonight. It will have a 4x4 foot print. It's 6 feet tall in the front, 5 feet tall at the back. The floor of the coop will be 2 feet up off the ground like all the others. I am also trying to figure out how I can use the old metal swing set as a run. I am pretty certain I can run fencing up and over the whole thing to make the run walls. BUT I also want to put fence on the floor of it, so will have to make a wooden frame around the bottom. I do not want any security issues with this one right from the get go. There will be only 1 nest box hanging off the side... Well, it'll be big enough for both hens at once, and in case they go broody. That's going to be the fun part... Figuring out how to do the with the materials I have. I'll get a drawing of what I am thinking up later...

I have a head ache, neck ache, butt ache, thigh ache, back ache, arm ache... dangnabit gym... LOL BUT, at least my bum will get smaller... a bit of pain, a lot to gain, that being my health.

OH fuzzy... I think I remember the windows... I think... LOL. How big are they? Size wise, that way I can see if I can use it for one side of the coop. Having an ability to have a window to open would be GRAND!

Hi GIGI. How's Georgie? We need a pic of her ya know.

That's going to be one cool coop. I googled pallet coop and here's some pics... I vote for linoleum. I have it and it's sooo easy to sweep out.

Hey Nova;
Georgie's fine but still getting in trouble. Yesterday I heard everyone baaaing like crazy so I go out to the barn and Georgie (of course) had somehow wedged herself behind the bales of straw I had stacked on the side. She'd pushed herself way in between the straw and the wall and then couldn't figure out how to back out (she's not the brightest baby goat - lol). It's so funny that whole herd gets so upset when one of them is in trouble. They were hanging around where Georgie was just baaing and running in and out of the barn like they were trying to get our attention so we could come to the rescue. I moved the straw bales and she jumped out and was bouncing around like nothing had ever happened. That's my Georgie!
