Fuzzy, are you asking if your hen can sit on a big egg with the smaller eggs, too? If so, then yes. Last year, our little sebright hen went broody and made herself a nest of 12 bantam eggs and 1 leghorn egg. Only 1 bantam egg and the leghorn egg hatched, but it was so interesting how she accepted the leghorn(ee mix) as her own. Quite funny to watch a chick try to hide under mama when it's bigger than her. LOL

Well, the chickens are living it up in the garden area. DH has decided to expand the garden this year so DS has been out there digging the area up and getting it ready for planting. The chickens have taken it upon themselves to enjoy the dug up area by scratching around madly in it and dust bathing big time. You should see the holes they've made. DH is not amused. LOL

I have yet to decide what I am going to plant in my 4x8 planter in the front this year. The other planters I use I am going to put non edibles in this year. I am seriously trying to decide if I want to go to all the trouble this year when I will be the only person to tend it along with everything else. Might just get some already started plants for the things I really want, like cukes and toms... But that'll be bout it. In the mean time, the birds are really enjoying bathing in it. Nothing funnier than seeing a chicken walk out of a pile of dirt, shake off and see the dirt fly in a spray around them!

Ekta, Skeeter, Skatter are all very small birds. They've sat 4-5 eggs normal sized eggs no problem.

I got a marans egg today! Haven't had one for a while. Texas looks like she's a raggedy thing right now. She's molting something terrible. LOL Poor thing. Blueberry on the other hand, is fat and has a big butt. I think she needs to stand still long enough for me to snap a pic of her butt. LOL. There's something i never thought I'd say until having chickens... WAIT, STAND STILL, I WANT A PIC OF YOUR BUTT! LOL

My head is killing me today. I want to go to bed. Think I will do the dishes and have a shower and then hit the hay...

Went to the gym this morning too. I feel all sticky now. The rain doesn't help. Plenty of dampness now.

Birds are not happy with me this morning. They are out there chicken cussing me. They've plenty of room in the run, but that is not the point. They want out. Maybe later when it stops. It's supposed to get cold tonight, in the 40's and I do not feel like them getting wet, and then getting chilled. Besides, what is the point of having a covered run then?

I worked on the jeep yesterday. Spilled radiator fluid everywhere trying to get that dang thing to burp. I hope I finally got it all worked out. Air bubbles. I never heard of burping a radiator...

WHEW! I am a cleaning machine today...

Crap butt rain has kept me in today. SO cleaned the toy room, the kitchen floor, living room floor, got the youngest to dust things on his level, which meant, not a lot, and now I am sitting around, drinking coffee and dinking off until I have to go and get the oldest.

Jace says he liked marching in the parade. Says he thinks he'll do it next year too. I told him not to grow, cuz he's wearing that same costume next year too! LOL

Anyway, how are you all. This thread has been uber dead lately. WHAT?! yeah..

Been busy tearing stuff out of my trailer. The spring dumpster comes on the 20th, and we wanna get as much out as possible so we don't have to pay to get it hauled away!

I'm gonna have to rough it and camp out there, eat and shower at DH's ; but right now we're working madly on the water system and the sub floor so i can have a toilet!!!

The rest of my time was spent making the hole in the camper bigger so the turds would go DOWN the hole, you'd have thought i was throwing them down to he** the way they carried on when i pushed them down the thing! But when it's open it lets a nice updraft of cool air up into the camper, and it gives me a covered run, allows the girls to head "upstairs" to lay too.

Fuzzy my bantam hens set together and hatched out 9 bantam chicks and I had put 2 maran eggs and one leghorn they hatched them one maran didn't make it but other two has they are 5 weeks old and thriving! The maran and leghorn are close to being same size as the bantam hens actually getting ready to move them out in couple weeks... Nova congrats on new baby's! They are. Cute. Now question for anyone that knows? I have three baby ducks one 10 days 2 that are 5 days. How long before they can go outside? I have them in with. A set of silkie chicks and another set of chicks my sister brought me. Chicks are bout two weeks old. Do ducks have to stay under brooder light like chicks?

yes, ducks need to stay under a brooder like chicks do. I am not sure how long, but i'd treat them the same as the chicks. heat until 6 weeks.

Well, I haven't hatched any chicks, but my youngest chick (daughter, that is) did a great job at track today and placed 3rd in the 1600m (1 mile) run. The run gained her a spot in next week's track conference.

Yippie I think I did it! Got some pics up. Now I just have to figure out how this thing works to get them in the order I wanted.
Chick overload!! These are todays hatch. English blue/blk/spl lemon orps and Choc. bantam orps.
I believe mine are done. No pips. Tapped nothing. The four left in there were questionable anyway. I'll leave them in untill tomorrow then float test.

These were chicks from my first hatch. Just mutts,but I think they are cute!

Same chicks at two weeks and the brooder box DH made for me.

The guy I got these eggs from offered me more!

I am going to name one of the boys Mr. Ed after him! LOL

Would you believe I am exhausted? Seriously... I didn't sleep good last night, I was so anxious over them eggs!

Tee... the only dogs my mom is afraid of is german shepards. She has had 3 seperate BIG issues with them attacking her.


On Friday... I will be filming with Hard Core Pawn in D Town... They want to see my reborn dolls! LOL
