Fuzzy's Farm

Things have been crazy bummed up here ... they cut DH unemployment check by more than half for that 10% thing .. i guess they mean they only get 10% of it rather thn them only taking 10% .. hes still job hunting ... looking for something more local again so maybe instead of me hauling all the animals down for the first half of the move they can stay with daddy except for thena beana and jersey and the chicks i am giving my sister... i lost tiny this week and that was one of the roughest things i have ever been through strangely ... he was basically the only chicken i had that bonded with me ... maybe some of the new babies will .... and DHs expensive eggs lol JGs are in the bator ... still going strong in spite of the fact that DS decided to help and try and adjust the temp down last night and mistakenly went the other way ... 45 minutes later i got a chance to check ... 115 degrees in there

Thanks nova, I thought that ducklings needed heat lamp too.. Someone tried to tell me to just put them outside covered up! Glad I listened to myself! I know they grow extremely fast, but they are still baby's! Glad everyone is doing so well. And new chicks are so exciting! My sister left this morning with a roo and two hens from my bantam hatch, plus 11 leghorn eggs, 11 Japinese bantam eggs and 6 of Agnus my little bantams to put in incubator when they get home.. Hope they all hatch for her. Had to get rid of my maran rooster Rehomed him he was fighting my other rooster. Have great day everyone!

Awww, silver. That's terrible, losing your pet. I have a bunch of chickens, but only a few get that close, not that i don't love them all to pieces.

I'm still not over losing my cocoa, and it's been almost a year. Her daughter is a perfect replica, though and it hurt at first but is still the only other chicken that has gotten that little spot in my heart. It's why i'm bringing her into the house, i don't think i could handle it if anything happened to her out there.......If only i could have brought her mother home, if only i could have found a job sooner.......... but sometimes you just have to believe that things happen for a reason, even if you don't see it right away.

Too bad you aren't in this state, i'd gladly hatch one of hope's daughters for you, since that particular bloodline seems to be part cat ! (Uber cuddly)

First of all, just incase I don't get a chance tomorrow... HAPPY MOMMA'S DAY!

Second, I have a question, has anyone here tried using cardboard egg cartons in the incubator at lockdown instead of lying them completely flat? There would be the bottoms cut out of the eggs carton and holes in the cups for circulation, but it would keep the eggs from getting knocked silly by the ones that have already hatched... I have one person who said it is her preferred method, and on guy who says it is not his. Any other pro or cons to this?

Can't help on that one. Sorry. Happy Mother's Day to you and all others tomorrow, as well.

Well, we haven't found a new home for Ruby and haven't been able to bring ourselves to doing the deed with him, and do you know what that little ungrateful bugger did to me today? The little ef'er attacked me! What the heck! I was walking away from all the chickens when he did it, never saw it coming. Thank goodness it was cold today and I had a pair of denim jeans on so it didn't cause any harm, but still. At first I thought it was one of the barn cats come to rub up on my leg, but it was him being stupid. I kicked him away and chased his butt around for a few minutes. Big boss Newton just stood there watching us even though we were circling through the ladies so he knew I wasn't going to hurt them and didn't join in or raise a ruckus. He probably wanted me to kick the little buggers butt, too. Ruby even tried to hide behind the silkie roo, but he was like 'oh no' and ran away from us. Anyway, I plan to grab his but tomorrow and dremel his spurs since we can't do the deed. He draws any blood on anyone, though, and I just might find it in me to do it.

BTW, silkie man can really crow! First time I ever heard him today. I'm thinking due to his size and sound of his crow that he is big man #2.

um.,.........me! It's in my notes :) It was fantastic. ONLY issue i had at hatch was when hope got her leg stuck between some random bits of egg and the carton. Pure coincidence though, that was after the tops of the eggs had gotten kicked around a bit and i was waiting for the last slow poke to come out yet.

I didn't cut any holes in the bottom of the carton, just cut the top 3/4 of the cups off so it was a shallow cup.

Awesome !!! that is so cool !! when will it air ? ? ? how did it go cause i assume you meant like today lol
It will air at the end of summer... IF they decide to show it.
I am sure they will pose me as the crazy baby/doll lady
I am sure I will look like an idiot... I felt like one.
I was told to ask for a significant amount more because they would talk me down, if they would even want it. I asked for $300 each... They offered me $80 for 2 dolls. Sadi they couldn't pay me for my time making them... Oh well.
Now I can say that I am a reborn artist featured on HCP...
I was more nervous after filming than I was before and during.
I feel like such a dummy.
I kicked him away and chased his butt around for a few minutes.

I would have done the same thing!!

I wish I knew someone close with chicks. Patties baby is not going to hatch, I am sure it is dead. She has been faithful and sat on the egg for a month now and is not going to give up.
Poor Pattie. I would love to sneak a baby under her.
