Fuzzy's Farm

Hi Gigi! She's doing okay now. That vaccine hit her like they do when a baby gets one so just had to get past the first 24 hours. Sounds like your having the rain weather we did. I hope it stops for you all. How terrible to lose all you have like that between the tornado and rain.

I just went out and checked the remaining eggs. No pips, zips, or cracks of any kind. No movement or sounds. I guess I'll give them another day or two and if I don't see anything by then I'll toss them. Which, of course, means I would only have one chick and he would need a buddy. Does anyone know if FF&H still have has any chicks? If not, would anyone like to donate a chick buddy for my little lone one?

My broody is brooding, but a couple weeks before hers hatch. IF they hatch, the other day i went out there and someone had moved her nest. A two legged someone........Pithed off royally. Her nest is made in a tiny tire, and i had put a clump of sod in the bottom to help with heat and humidity. So no way they moved it! I know before when i collected eggs i had pulled the tire forward instead of leaning in, and the eggs got rolled and rattled so i stopped doing it. So mad! I don't know how to tell if they are dead, except to keep waiting. :(

She's such a tiny thing, i really don't want her brooding no longer than necessary, if they end up dead i'll have no choice but to try to break her; i could give her a couple big girl eggs to brood, but with the heat soon coming i don't think it'd be safe.?

Nova, are you asking if I want to wait or want a Taoist? LOL I can wait if I have to. Still hoping for another one to pop out.
Fuzzy, I don't want it to be a he, but we keep referring to him as a he. However, that chick is either a barred rock or a black sex link and the fronts of his legs are washed in black and that would mean he is really a she.

lol you have got to love my auto correct!

sorry I haven't been on much this last week. Been just having one of those depressing weeks. My poor birds... God I feel so terrible! Skeeter died tonight. I had been trying to get her to pull thru the poisoning, but nope. Her comb had started turning purple-ish a few days ago, very watery breathing too. I am so very upset because of this. Ok didn't do it on purpose, but still, it is my own stupidity that caused so many hens to die. I am still up in the air with Soledad though. I hope she doesn't go too.

Please please please let her be the last one... There is nothing as freaky as seeing your hen in death throws... Her babies have settled next to the silkies and Pat... Good thing they are fully feathered...

Tee, hope you have another hatch. But, will gladly give you a a few of whatever hatches next week...

Oh Nova, I'm so sorry about Skeeter. S ... happens even when you try your best. I was out cleaning up the yard and I found this old knife lying on the ground. I picked it up and tossed it into a box of trash. It hit an old can of white spray paint and pierced it. I could never have done that if I'd been trying. Anyway, the old paint sprayed everywhere and into our fish pond. I grabbed the box and tossed it away but there was oily paint all over the top of the water. I spent the next hour dragging sheets and old towels across the top of the water trying to pick up the paint swirls. I got a bunch of it out but I've probably killed all our koi and huge old goldfish. Just plain stupid even when I'm not trying...

Tee, I hope you have another baby hatch. Baby needs a friend.
