Fuzzy's Farm

Talked to my mom a bit ago and she said it went okay. The doctor apparently thought things looked good, but they won't know for sure until they get the results back. Not sure what they'll look at next if the results come back good because he's been having symptoms that indicate that something is way not right.

We had a chick hatch this morning. So far no others out, but I'm hoping that at least one more does so the little guy has a buddy. He wouldn't hold still so this is the best pic I got. Oh, and it's a joke (I hope!) that DH calls this the new roo pic.

I see you doing something like these, Fuzzy
LOL I have some cupboards (pressboard, can't stain) that are in the kitchen, they are open like that. Last gal left lace in them, but they are just begging for some chicken wire!
We are getting all the rain. Buckets and buckets and buckets. The poor people in Moore have a double whammy. First loosing everything to the tornado and then rain rain rain. So whatever wasn't blown away or destroyed is now mush and mold. Bad bad days for many people. My poor chicks are trying to learn the breast stroke there's so much water in their run. Tomorrow I'm covering everything with straw.
:( I have been thinking of you guys a ton lately. I worry about those poor people who've been affected by the whole thing. Jobs, food, homes/ cars, livestock, wild life................ Just awful all the way around.

Hi! I can't stay though, i'm wiped out. Did a bunch of painting today. No pics yet, not until it's decent. I did take before pics when i got the place, so should be neat.

I am feeling less than optomistic right now , feeling like i bit off more than i can chew. Probably just tired..... Still waiting for DH to get the rest of the bathroom operational, i was hoping for today. :( I still can go here to shower and eat, but it's just not the same............

Oh, and white being easy to pick??? NO!

It turns out that grey based beige turns a purple hue next to copper colored wood (maple wanna be in the hall) . Took me forever to figure out a safe off white! Some are blue based, some grey, others brown........then there are the stark whites, the whites with yellow............. Gaaa! I finally cheated and found the samples of contracter paint, and took them to the cool little light box at Lowes that lets you see what it looks like in different lighting. Found one, but Phew!

I picked out tons of sample cards and taped them to the walls so I could see them in all the different lights. I picked the ones that would catch my eye as soon as I walked in.
This took me weeks to figure out and pick ONE.

I totally get it!

Oh man, getting the right shade is hard. When we painted the kitchen in our last house we wanted a nice fresh sage green. It took 4 tries to get the right one that looked good in any light. Fuzzy, I didn't know Lowe's had a cool little light box. That might save me some grief when I start tackling all the indoor painting I need to do.

Still only 1 chick. I think I'm going to toss mama aside a bit and check to see if there is anything going on with the other eggs. I really hope I can get 1 more from them.

The tornado damage is unbelievable. My son is in charge of the rec centers where people are staying who have no homes and nowhere to go. He says it takes him an hour to get to work (normally 10 min) because there's still so much damage that's no cleared away. He's been going with people to help them sort through what is left of their homes and sometimes they can't even find the house. The city is putting up street signs because it's the only way people know where their house might be. My youngest son works for Chesapeake and spent one day just pulling animals out of the ruins. Said it was heartbreaking because they had no idea who they belonged to. The good news is that all the vets are treating them for free and the Dept of Ag has set up a recovery center for animals so people can find their pets. The two oil companies - Chesapeake and Devon - have donated close to 40 million dollars and Obama has opened up federal funds. Lots and lots and lots of people have volunteered all kinds of stuff. People will recover but it will just take a long time. And this continuous rain doesn't help. Rain and heat produce mold so what wasn't damaged by the tornado is now lost because of the weather. For some reason my computer won't let me make new paragraphs today so this is really run on...

Oops there it goes, oh well. Congratulations on the baby chick, tee. Can hardly wait to see more. And I'm hoping your father is going to be fine. Tests are so scary. Hang in there Fuzzy, it will take time but it will get done. I can imagine that not having a working bathroom is a pain. Thanks for all the good wishes everyone. BYFM, I know about the straw. I'm just at a loss. My boots sink 4 inches into the muck of their run. It's such a mess. Send sun!!!! Nova, I'm watching the most hilarious show. It's set in Holland, Michigan and they are looking for talent acts to put on a reality talent show. There's some funny people in Holland - lol! But it's kind of cool seeing the town. Go Holland! We are getting ready to head out on vacation and I'm so ready to get away. Today I'm making poop boards and getting the automatic coop door opener working. The goal is to make taking care of the animals as problem free (less chance to mess up) as possible while we are gone.
