Fuzzy's Farm

Hope all my Oklahoma friends are ok? Know you all got hit again . My sister lives near Talaquah, and it was a rough night there. Just lots of rain and thunderstorms, my other family live in Mo and they had bad night too. Glad they are all ok. My rooster is still acting up my hubby went to let them out this morning and he started chasing a hen very aggressively and was hurting her, so he sprayed him and cooled him off with a early morning cold shower! And I missed it! Lol...but he's still being a bully. Getting ready to be chicken pot pie or gumbo one, don't like dumplings! Lol have great night everyone! And don't tolerate that mean rooster tee! Make pot pie!!! :) :)

Nova, I think she said she is near Moore, but don't know for certain. It's just awful how they keep getting hit by the bad weather.
Savannah, if I could bring myself to doing the deed, but alas, I'm a wimp. However, I told DS that if the bugger tries it one more time that he (DS) has my permission to take care of the matter.

Last night Henry snatched the silver hen up and was rough to her, to the point that she actually sneaked off last night into the brush and didn't come back. I'm sure she's OK, but i was so mad at Henry that he got locked in the kennel last night. I let the girls have a day off from him. :)

Darn stinker. Hope he learns his lesson in confinement and that your girl comes back.

I didn't have any grr moments with the chickens today, but I did have an 'oh what an awesome boy you are' with Newton. I was standing off the back deck tossing pieces of bread to them and I noticed that Newton didn't seem to be getting any. So I purposefully threw some to him and he would snatch it up, but then when one of the girls got next to him he would put it back down for them to take. He did this over and over. Gotta say I was quite happy with his manners and how he was letting the girls get all the goodies.

We are on lock down now. I have also gained a few birds. Too bad I have to give them back. Neighbors birds came for a visit and got stuck in my coop. Strutter doesn't help none. He keeps rounding them up. He is such a good rooster.

jail seems to be doing henry good. Star came back, but with an impacted crop. :( I worked on her today, massaged her crop a ton and dipping her into the water. After a couple hours she was drinking more on her own, so i am hopeful. I also gave her some of the goat's probiotics in a nervous effort , since her crop smelled so awful. She must've been out eating all the long grass.

(As i was massaging time to time an awful rotten trash smell. Not sour, yet.)

One touching part of the whole event, though; when i found her one of DH's uncle's barred rocks was watching over her, in my area of the woods she doesn't normally go in! I was touched. She actually was the one who heard me and made noises to lead star towards me. His birds have adopted me as their roo, since he took the roos to auction before leaving for the summer. That rock and the speckled sussex even squat for me!

Fuzzy, glad your girl came back. As for the OK gals, don't know about cf4l, but I'm thinking Gig is still away on vacation right now. And Bob posted over on the MI thread a few days back during their great dog attack debate.

Anyway, we just had something very odd happen. DH was on the back deck tending to his tomato starts when he started hearing someone speaking spanish in the back of our property. We have 10 acres and the property behind our yard area goes back a ways and is full of bushes, trees and tall grass/weeds. So he was looking back there when I see someone emerge to our east from the property behind the old barn. They walked right out to the neighbor's trailer. Now mind you there is nothing behind us but a lake so this wasn't a shortcut through to visit. No idea why he would go back there, but DH is wary so he called the police department to report that we had a trespasser.

Well, well. Not cool neighbors, not cool. My son just told me a bit ago that he spoke to a friend who used to babysit for the people next door and she told him that our neighbors are going onto our property and taking old scrap metal that they are finding and are scrapping it for money. It's not what DH thought they might be doing, but it makes sense. The last owners weren't overly concerned about being environmentally friendly so there is stuff like that around the property. Boy, I wouldn't want to be them when DH finds out. He's not one to go easy on anyone who steals from him. It might be old junky metal, but it's ours. Looks like a walk through the back is in order to see what might be missing and to put up posts with signs clearly stating no trespassing which is going to look weird as our property actually goes around theirs (it's an acre that was sold to a family member from the original owner), but you do what you have to do.

Well is discovered twas not a theif stealing my eggs. Neighbor informed me BOB the roo has been a lil rough with the ladies.... He is currently serving time in chicken jail and mysteriously the ladies are laying again. Must have been really rough to spook em out of laying eggs. Also got some chicks last week.. we lost 2 so far(we think the silkie is stepping on them). I will try to get pics up of the survivors.
