Fuzzy's Farm

My BR broody Pattie has yet to give up! She is still broody and I have let her gather 5 eggs under her again. All marked with BIG Xs! I will refrain from candling and touching them (except to pull out all the new eggs she pulls under her)
I am hoping they will start popping out anyday!!!
I really do hope that she has luck hatching them this time. She has spent so long sitting... she is ready to be a mama!

Spotted a wild duck sitting on eggs outside of a store... what a terrible place to hatch babies. Wish I could move her without making her upset.

Ok so been letting the chickens free range in the back yard the last few days(since its been nice out). Wow what a differance that makes! I was getting 1-3 eggs a day and now I am getting 3=6 eggs a day and I only have 5 laying hens!!! Is this due to more vegetation balancing out their diet? Or perphaps just happier girls? On the roo note... anyone know where to get those lil dresses for the girls? My Polish roo is um... well he is quite energetic and enthusiastic this spring. The girls are starting to develop bald spots on their butts, and backs of their necks.
I have also seen aprons for the girls listed on eBay.
Sorry for all losses!

Cute pics of chicks in basket Nova! How is the hatch going? Mine not well this time out of a bator full only 4 made it to lock down hatch day Sun. I did nothing different from the 4 other hatches but had a lot of clear and several with 'ring of death'.
Hope everyone has a good weekend and no crap days!
Anyone hear from gigi? Maybe still on vacation?

Sorry bout your hen there Fuzzy... total suckage. I wonder if she found something poisonous/spoilage...

Anyway, HI Rusty.

My hatch this time... 17 were wiggling at lock down. I locked down day 19 instead of day 18. Oops. BUT, 11 of those hatched and are thriving. number 12 started to hatch and died. If I had known he was having problems when I went to bed, I would have gotten him out, but he was zipping when I went to bed, but dead in the morning. Bummer. It was a white yokohama. So, of the 11, 5 are polish. Looks like 3 blues, one black, one splash. Thinking one of the blues may not make it to adulthood though. He's dome shaped on his head like a silkie, and his body looks long and skinny, legs are very long in comparrison to the other polish. BUT he's eating, drinking and crapping, so... have a red shouldered yokohama, a white yokohama and 4 japs. The japs look like walking fuzz balls with feet, no legs.

It is standing, and litterally, all you see is feet. LOL. They are just so dang cute!

Have the phoenix moved out of the garage now, they have their own little coop and grow out pen in the back. They are still having a light, and I hope they figure out how to get in the coop as quickly as they figured out how to get out. LOL.

Hello again. Still feeling crappo, but better than i was. Painting like mad on the trailer. Some colors OK, some turned out waaaay off from what i expected, so just mustering on for now.

Hatch; well whoever moved that nest surely did kill the babies. I left 2 maybies under her, but the rest were def bad. :( If those turn out to be bad, i will give her a couple of hope's eggs.

Good news/ bad news yesterday; DH's uncle and aunt that were giving me issues with the electric moved out! Bad news, they gave their chickens to DH's stepsister one house down. I had wanted the one speckled sussex hen, she was letting me hold her and she looks like a beardless orloff. It was spite, his aunt was spiteful all the way to the end, not giving me DH's stuff they borrowed and telling me that the hen was going to the farm she came from, turns out his stuff was left behind in the shed for anyone to take and his spiteful stepsis got the birds. B's, dang B's! They'll end up dogfood or she'll get P.O'd when they make the journey right down the path back to me! (Her weenie dog has a thing for birds)

I am pondering still about adopting out most of my birds. Idk what the stepmom is up to, seems like the stuff is getting deep around here with the politics! I am keeping my options open just in case. (always have to be on the ready lately! Uugh) For some reason my girls have varying degrees of early stage bumblefoot, so i am going to do the paste treatment and wrap, for now. Hope will come home with me any day, i don't want to get rid of my shy white roo either, so trying to decide how to do the adopting . Henry's been good, perhaps seeing me care for star got it through his pea brain that i was there to help. Still wary around him, though. Hen-wise i still have hope, her sister cookie, the two lemon blues, and duckie the beetle green and orange. both roos are blue based pattern, henry is laced and shy roo is (i think) polka-dotted .
