Fuzzy's Farm

Awww. That's so sad Nova. I've had birds try to kill sick ones. :( Always horrible and for me it's the end for that bird. Won't stand it, i know it's instinct but i find homes for those ones. Once i start hating it's permanent.

When my plucky roo got attacked by the other roo, the only girl who would sit with him was his Cocoa. That's why he loved her so, and when i saw that it sealed the deal for me that i wanted her blood in my stock forever. I'm still not certain one of the birds didn't do my white roo in since i wasn't there. Cocoa's first daughter isn't that way unfortunately, and she is hateful to the underlings. My hope however is sweet. The roo i saved is sweet, the roo that died was also sweet. And oddly enough the barred rock that i kinda stole is sweet also, when i thought we were going to have to shoot my little roo the other day i stood him on the side of the pen to see his ladies one last time- the rock of all of them stood by him the whole time he was there and talked to him. Made him feel better; and she's not even known him for more than a week! My meanie roo i don't trust, and the other hatchlings from that last batch i don't trust either since they are not as tame as hope. Kinda more instinctual?

Anyway i'm very very sad to hear of it. You were trying soooo hard to save her.

Do you need help? Moral support? I work this weekend but could find time to have a cup of joe .

Ok... You ladies are totally NOT going to believe this, but I swear to all it is true! My golden is still alive! Poop you not. I went out on to the deck to throw Aidens left over mac and cheese, and she was in the big run. No, I did not bury her, and you may not like this, but I left her nestled under a log for the wild life. I try an dig a hole, and I inevitably end up digging up past chickens... So any way, I figure, she survived my 4 attempts, and I really did think she was dead, she survived a night in ths woods and made it home, she is going to get every dang chance I can give her finish pulling through. She's in a fish tank, going to clean out the rabbit cage and she's going to live in there until she either dies, I mean, I broke her freaking neck, or she walks again. I need to make her a sling I think. I can hold her to eat several times a day.

I can't freaking believe it. Talk about a will to live!

I said it once, i'll say it again...............ZOMBIE CHICKENS!

LOL

But seriously, pics? Is her neck tweaked? Maybe a neck cone thing? Manna pro vitamins for chicks, yellow bottle comes with tablets to make you own liquid vitamins. Little bits of bread, sop them and feed them.? That's what i did and it's the same vitamins i used to "save" my sick chick. Who later perished, but point is she couldn't hardly walk and then she was be bopping around.

Poor girl. Does she be scared of you now? You have a top on there and away from the kitties?

She eats, so I don't need to sop food for her at this time. She's on chick feed so higher protien. Poultry Nutri-drench is in her water. Her head is up right, and she doesn't seem to be having any problems moving it in any direction at this time, but I have not witnessed her looking behind her yet. Might not be able too, I don't know. Her head is slathered with triple A too.

I just finished setting up the rabbit cage and putting her in it. No, she doesn't seem to be afraid of me at all, and yes, I did think too that she'd be petrified. I held her when I found her, and I didn't put her down until I had slathered her head and fed her a 1/4 cup sized bowl of chick feed with egg yolk mixed in. Then when that was done, gave her the egg white too, and she drank quite a bit of that up. Then it was a challenge getting her to drink the water. I don't think she liked the pink bowl. LOL. I cleaned her beak off and set her in the tank till I had her temporary home ready.

I'd keep her in the house, but I do not want her away from the other birds completely, and in the rabbit cage, she's got her own food and water and the other birds can see her and interact through the cage. Those phoenix boys are very protective of their ladies. They did go after blueberry to get her away. Brave little guys.

I will get pics of her tomorrow. I also need to put up new pics of my beautiful boys. Both boys tails are as long as my forearm.

fuzzy, you are welcome anytime at all. Anytime.

Is she a full size breed? You'll get a house chicken yet you know.

Maybe i'll try to stop by this week. I'm having a rough time of it work-wise would do me good to get away from here. Is there some where we could have coffee or something where the boys could come? Then you wouldn't have to worry about who's gonna be there. ?

They slashed my hours to @20 or less a week, not looking good. I'm gonna hit the pavement for reals this time and this time i won't turn down offers it i have to start right away. I wanted to give notice, but even with my nice pay 20 isn't cutting it and i need to know what i'm working with money wise even if it's less.

Nova i'll get DH out to find his traps from the woods tomorrow. :( He will get that thing for you, i'll convince him. Can you or the neighbor do the SSS?

Oh yes. We can. I do think however that it was a ferret.

About Boadicea. It's one of the phoenix pullets. She's living in the garage with the other garage losers until further notice. I am thinking the BBR will be going in with her in a few days. I am going to look into making a 1x4 house for them until they are both returned to health. OR I just might kick Hawkarella and Ekta and the three wee ones out of the brooder box and turn it to a hospital for the phoenix girls.
