Fuzzy's Farm

Fuzzy, it's been awhile since I've made it, but I have a recipe for brown sugar pecan pie that my DH loves, if you're interested. It's not the prettiest looking pie, but he prefers it to the corn syrup ones.

Does sound really good right now, doesn't it? I love apple pie, but darned if I can find an awesome recipe for one. The ones I try are okay, but not quite how I like it. Anyone want to throw a recipe my way, I'm willing to try.

This is my first time using the VetRx... Has anyone else tried it?
I've used it, Nova. Had some wheezy 2 mo olds. It seemed to help. I also used it on our baby goat when he had pneumonia but the vet said she preferred not to use it but I was too wrapped up in trying to keep him alive to ask her why she didn't like it. I think it's a case of try it if you have nothing else.

Thanks for the earlier info on broodys. I've got a rabbit cage but darn work has me running and I haven't got Bahama Mama into it yet. I've been taking her out of the nest at night and sitting her on the roost. She'll stay there until it's light. Tonight I'll put her in the broody buster cage when I get home and try to cool her off.

Silver, I'm so sorry for all your losses.

That's so sad. Oh, and I hadn't thought to put the VetRX in water or rub it on their breast. I'm going to try that.

We actually had rain here last night and this morning. Yes, you heard me right, actual RAIN. Stupid chickens stayed out in it all day and were completely drenched when they came in the coop last night. Maybe I'll be using the VetRX sooner than I thought...

The goats on the other hand didn't come out of their barn at all. Stayed in there looking pitiful like it was our fault this horrible water stuff was everywhere. They've got a great barn but the roof is metal and when it rains it sounds as if you are inside a steel drum. Anyone got any ideas on how I can deaden the noise? I thought about throwing old carpet on top as it's fairly flat but don't know if that would hold the moisture and cause the metal to rust. Any thoughts?

All this talk of pie... Yum. Made me buy the stuff I needed to make one this morning after I dropped off my boy. I expect my niece here in an hour...

Bad news... though...
Opened the coops to a dead pullet. i didn't even know anything was wrong with this one. I have a SLW that has been under the weather, and even the vet visit gave no answer. Anyway, this was one of the GLWxMr.Fuffers chicks. She would have been about 11 weeks now. To look at her though, I guess she really hasn't grown. I never even though about it being odd that she was still so little. She ate good, feathered out wonderfully. She was my Little Pretty. Always loved a cuddle and would stay in my arm and not want to get off. Roger was the only one who ever picked on her... Oh well. Totally blows. Her sister is 2 weeks older, and 3 times her size...

You remember this one right Fuzzy? She never grew any bigger from the time you saw her. She did feather out a bunch more. Had a very thick layer of fuzzy feathers. She was still warm when I found her, so I did check for bugs again. I check them alot. Nothing... I am guessing failure to thrive... I will necropsy later to check for worms... get the burn barrel going.
