Good morning all!

It has now officially rained a slow but steady light rain for three, count them, THREE days. It's manna from heaven. The chicks love it but my goats, oh my. They know they are going to melt if they set one tiny hoof outside the barn. That means the barn is due for a serious cleaning today. How do four tiny goats produce that much yuck? But I guess it's a good day to do such things...

Chicken Little fits through the lattice around the bottom of the deck- soo, what that means is this:

My coop butts up against the deck (coop is up on cinderblocks)- the chicken yard goes from deck to privacy fence across, then from house to ummmmmm- 25 feetish out. That has side has a split rail fence with eight foot of quarter-inch hardware cloth, then wire fencing over that. No way in, no way out except the gate.
Until now.

I opened the gate so that Bird and Chicken Little could explore my secret garden- which is also fenced off with decorative iron fencing. That is to keep the dogs and the fat chickens out. The d'uccles proved to me they could go in whenever they wanted; SO- I opened the gate to give the new girls some area outside the chicken yard to explore- but not too far until they think of the chicken yard as their 'safe zone'.

I was standing out there- and suddenly out from under the deck pops Chicken Little. Neener Neener Neener- there is NO fencing in a bird the size of a large mouse.

The good thing here is- they have both gone into the coop a dozen times today. They consider that safe. SO, I think we are still making progress- just on chicken terms, not human.

That's funny Kim. I know she is little bity but dang. How in the world are you ever going to keep her in LOL.

LOL tiny had her own adventures yesterday ...
She got to ride to pick up bubba from the bday party and amde a massive poopy on his lap as a welcome home present ( how one little serema can make such a pile i will never know !!! ) then we looked at cars and truck vans suvs on several different lots with her riding shot gun in my pocket .... she loves it ...

And for dinner we played show momma we can still get out of our bed and join the family in the kitchen lol Tiny the terror is awesome .. I want more...

I think tonight i am gonna candle the duck eggs just to see if there is any progress should be at day 4-5 with them so should be able ot see something maybe ... the mom always has trouble when she sets and the eggs go bad because she is either on them too long or not long enough and i never find her on the nest til its too late to know where they stand ...

I have a Roger Jr! My Rod Stewart pays no attention to the chicks at all. Yesterday however, he charged my poor little RJ. Picked him out of the other too, they were all together, and he zero'd in on him! LOL, I am taking that as a good sign that he is a he. LOL. The evil GLW pullet however, has it out for the little buff and blue. See her and just goes for her! I swear she is the bully. I do get poops and giggles when Vonna plows into her and knocks her over. LOL. Vonna was never the top of the pecking order, Vanna and Fia were... But since Vonna died, she's been asserting herself more.

I have to go to work.

This is a dead thread today...thank goodness a few of us have posted or I would think it was locked!

So, Bird and Chicken Little have discovered the flower garden. Its end season, so the chickens can forage- and they have been having a party!!

See Bird and Chicken Little (in the front)?

and then some of the other girls getting a little closer to the newcomers:
