Fuzzy's Farm

Well, dinner is done, the kitchen is cleaned up. I went out to put the birds away, well they were already up to roost, and I could not find my resident sicko. I looked all over for her and I was just about to give her up for lost since it was dark, and there are just too many places she can hide. If it weren't so darn cold out, I might not worry too much, but the cold alone would do her in, and yes, I know, I am going to cull her, but still, I don't want her to freeze to death either, or be easy prey for a night time prowler. Well, anyway, I got all the coops closed and went back to the garage to look over it again and close the door down when I noticed the inside door to the garage was open, but the screen was shut. So, I went over to close that door, and stop letting the heat out, since I now knew where the draft was coming from, and there she is! In the darn hallway, inside the house nest to the laundry room door. How the heck she got there I do not know. How the heck she managed to be there and the dogs not find her, I do not know that either. Anyway, put her back under the heat lamp for the night.

While I was out though, I found Skeeter and her lone chick in the side yard in the dark again. I am wondering if she is trying to decide to move back to the big coop or not and then got stuck somewhere in between. Silly bird. Guess it is time to put the nite light in the garage like last year. I always had the light go on at 7 pm. I use a fish tank light, so it isn't that bright, but I never had an idiot bird who couldn't make up her mind

Coco Chanel is still broody. I can't seem to break that brat. She has no eggs. I take her out and give her a toss out of the run, and I put her on the roost in the summer coop at night, and where is she in the AM? Back in the nest box. Tonight though, she decided to fight back, and left me a chicken hickey. I guess I should be glad she just leaves hickies and not has a snack of human hand instead. I guess I might just have to crate her butt. Heck, that might not bother her too much actually.

Robin, I think Kim is taking advantage of you... It is either that, or you put a curse on her to have a butt load of roosters in her hatches just so you can have them... Sheesh, I have been trying to figure out for months how one woman can have such luck as to have so many roosters, and NOW I think I have stumbled upon the answer, you hexed her. HEHEEHEE.

(don't worry, the babies are in a large dog kennel with their sand box and light, so they are safe and sound) I am always near when i let them out to run with the others!

Oh yay, I like getting Ovations. It makes me feel important.

.
OK, that was my randomness for the day.
What are the Ovations? I saw it the other day on my profile and have no idea what they are for.
Looks like I better go and feed the people here. No one can cook but me... even though its just taco meat. I bought everythign pre-cut so there'd be no reason for them to not do it, but nope, I get home, and the first thing I get asked is, "Whats for dinner, you making tacos, cuz we're hungry." I looked at them stupidly, and came here to say hi. Guess ya'll see where my priority lies right now huh.
Every. Single. Night.
Got one on them tonight, though. Can't help but know what's for dinner when you walk in with 2 giant pizzas.

Hi Everyone,

Today we found two of the Poof Heads with their head feathers picked almost entirely off, and blood everywhere. Bob is chasing them, pecking them, and ripping their head feathers out. We put Bob in the pen the Poofs were in for now, but any thoughts on how to help the Poof Head's heal, and maybe what to do to win Bob over (Or if it's even possible to win him over?)

Here's some pics of the damage:

And the culprit:

The usual suspect. :p

It's just the two black and whites that are getting nailed. Ms. Bagawk and Alice are fine. Any thoughts on what to do?
Make sure that they are not boys...
I have been slowly doing intros between the chicks and the other birds for the last couple of weeks, going decent but Cookie and Blue are being stinkers about it. Cookie is doing it out of jealousy, Blue idk with him. He don't have any of the protective instincts that i was hoping for. :( The d'uccles are starting to accept them, since they are close in size now. Princess (my auction hen) is so tiny and miserable with this molt that she could care less, Henry is another wild card. He's been acting a bit wild lately, but unless they are running he leaves them alone. Anything runs he goes after it, which is a problem since Blue chases everything right now. Huge teenager roo.
Mr. Fluffers and Roger were not protective of chicks that were NOT their own. Actually, Mr. Fluffers paid the chicks no mind that were raised by one of the hens. The ones that I got in January and put out at the end of February stayed the heck out of his way. He wouldn't chase them, but he would give them a good pecking to get them moving away. Roger was only protective of the chicks that he was raising with Leila and then by himself. The other broody raised chicks, nope. If they got in his way, came to close, he'd peck em. He wouldn't protect them from the other hens either. Only HIS chicks. SO... yeah, just saying. Rod Stewart now, he used to chase when he was still a cockerel, but now that he is the head man, he doesn't. He's not protective, but he isn't aggressive either.

The ovations are for when someone gives you a thumbs up on a post that you made, if it helped them out, was good information, a good giggle, a thank you for a welcome... You can give them to anyone by clicking the thumbs up icon at the bottom of each post. You are not supposed to give them to yourself though.

No no no no, I do NOT want roosters !!!! The d'Uccles I brought home are all hens LOL. And I do believe with the 3 quail she has she's got 1 male and 2 females. Not sure but that's what it looks like to me. Besides Kim can take advantage of me. She is that good of a friend.

Interesting. You know, I clicked the thumbs up one time for something I read that I liked and I thought it would be like fb's 'like' button and would show up, but it didn't so I figured I was wrong and never clicked it again. I didn't know it would only show up on the poster's profile.
