Well, dinner is done, the kitchen is cleaned up. I went out to put the birds away, well they were already up to roost, and I could not find my resident sicko. I looked all over for her and I was just about to give her up for lost since it was dark, and there are just too many places she can hide. If it weren't so darn cold out, I might not worry too much, but the cold alone would do her in, and yes, I know, I am going to cull her, but still, I don't want her to freeze to death either, or be easy prey for a night time prowler. Well, anyway, I got all the coops closed and went back to the garage to look over it again and close the door down when I noticed the inside door to the garage was open, but the screen was shut. So, I went over to close that door, and stop letting the heat out, since I now knew where the draft was coming from, and there she is! In the darn hallway, inside the house nest to the laundry room door. How the heck she got there I do not know. How the heck she managed to be there and the dogs not find her, I do not know that either. Anyway, put her back under the heat lamp for the night.
While I was out though, I found Skeeter and her lone chick in the side yard in the dark again. I am wondering if she is trying to decide to move back to the big coop or not and then got stuck somewhere in between. Silly bird. Guess it is time to put the nite light in the garage like last year. I always had the light go on at 7 pm. I use a fish tank light, so it isn't that bright, but I never had an idiot bird who couldn't make up her mind
Coco Chanel is still broody. I can't seem to break that brat. She has no eggs. I take her out and give her a toss out of the run, and I put her on the roost in the summer coop at night, and where is she in the AM? Back in the nest box. Tonight though, she decided to fight back, and left me a chicken hickey. I guess I should be glad she just leaves hickies and not has a snack of human hand instead. I guess I might just have to crate her butt. Heck, that might not bother her too much actually.
Robin, I think Kim is taking advantage of you... It is either that, or you put a curse on her to have a butt load of roosters in her hatches just so you can have them... Sheesh, I have been trying to figure out for months how one woman can have such luck as to have so many roosters, and NOW I think I have stumbled upon the answer, you hexed her. HEHEEHEE.
