GAAAAH! freezing and the heat lamp is broken!!

OMG our 14 babies are out in the garage, in their brooder - they are two-and-a-half weeks old today - we're having horrible wind blasts and freezing temps which make the garage really cold.

DH and I just came back from a dinner in town and THANKFULLY I checked in on the babies because their brooder light was off

I changed the 100W bulb, and 2 minutes later it went off again.

So I had to wrangle a spare lamp & bulb from another coop condo, in the dark, on hands and knees in the garage, and replace the faulty lamp - the babies were soooo happy to have some heat, poor things - no idea how long they were in the cold but it must have been a while

So upset and now worried - what if the same thing happens again?

could they freeze to death before the morning???

Unfortunately no

All was OK this morning, the 2nd heating lamp was fine - whew!

No idea why the first one went all wonky... scary stuff.

Hi there!!! I'm here in upstate NY and wish you would keep the canadian air up there!!!! I'm so glad your babies are all right. I have babies coming next week, and I hope it warms up a bit before they get here. I'm keeping them out on my side covered porch and that way I can check the light and temp. often!!!
