gafting

Huh? What does gaft mean?

My neighbor has a really broody hen who just hatched 10 of her own. They went to the hatchery and purchased 20 more and put them in with her.
I know - 30 chicks seems like a TON for one mama.
She's really taken them in and honestly, I can't tell which are hers and which are not. She's a really good mama.
They didn't do anything special, they just put them in with her.

well i am about to go to the feed store with my mom how many babie do u think she can take care of. also i am gonna put the mom and them in a six by six play house

OH, cool, another day at BYC, another thing learned.
I grafted my week old chicks to a broody hen and she took to them instantly. She is still a great momma to them now and they are 10 weeks old!
Give her some time to watch the peeps and see how she reacts. If she 'talks' to them and seems to want to be with them then see how she behaves. That mommy instinct is strong in some of them!

BTW is it spelled: g a f t or g r a f t?
