Gaggle of Geese Lovers

I have an irrational fear of geese, however, to me, it is quite rational.
Do female geese (no males present) hiss and attack me like I see online?

Yall when they his, and you see all the teeth in their mouth, I'm runnin'

Now that I’m thinking I’ve been bitten by females more than males, but it’s usually more of jabs and pokes, pretty much from Delphi and Apricot who like to scold me for walking past them to quickly, not giving proper homage with snacks, talking on the phone or FaceTime which they do not tolerate for some reason. The other girls are less bossy and don’t do this. The only legitimate bite I’ve gotten from a female goose is reaching into a nest which was brutal.

If it makes you feel better the best way to deal with an attacking gander is to pick him up. It pretty much renders him harmless.

My fun story for the day...

I heard the geese screaming and yelling about midnight on Saturday. I popped out with a spotlight to see what had them all worked up and they were all in a circle cheering Golly, my Buff gander, on while he was breeding a hen. His little victory yell at the end just encouraged them to further vocal heights. I rolled my eyes, but I'm sure everyone driving by enjoyed the show...

This is too funny and reminds me of a time a passerby was yelling at one of my brother in laws roosters for mounting a hen. She was saying “hey you stop that now leave the little guy alone” lol.

I reccomend visiting someone who hatches their own goslings. Start with interacting with them when their small. Their actually fairly adorable. They do nibble alot though. It might help if you start with interacting with them when their younger instead of going straight to adult geese.

We have a gander but in general our females don't hiss at humans. They just avoid them.
