Gains and losses in the mini farm

Hopefully your mini farm will continue to thrive and grow, despite some losses!
We have a crooked beaked Chicken as well, and so far she seems to be doing fine!

Thank you so much! People here are so nice...
We have to feed her extra, she flies up to our arm or to sit next to us and eats directly from the cup. When she eats from the ground, she eats more dirt, then feed, cause she has bad dept perception. I tried to take a video of it. When I give her one piece of food, she pecks about an inch in front of it. But she does not want to show it at video, she just refuses to peck and leaves. I think she is camera shy (of course, it looks like giant eye) And Griffin (her sister) got used to fly up with her, so we feed them both like that, even though she doesnt have to be hand fed

With cross beaks, it often helps if you pile the food up, so they manage to get some in their mouth. Hope she continues to do well.

the other chicken bully her, so even if we pile the food up, the other chickens and ducks will eat most and scratch the rest around, so she would get nothing. Thank you for the suggestion though

Hmmmn...
I think maybe, also, with the depth perception, she just can't get enough food in her beak at one time like the others can.
Because she she has to shovel the food in her mouth, while the others can just peck at it..
So far my little one is not struggling with getting food.

Yes, I believe you are correct. she bangs her head almost aimlessly. Its a bit funny, a bit sad. When she gets my finger or my hand, she tries to pull it off; or at least she used to, now she knows the difference.
I am glad yours have no problem eating. It is worrisome, when they can't eat

She is beautiful! I had a scissor beak chick once. She did not make it as big as yours, but once the beak started separating, it went quick. Her food would dry up in her mouth and form a crust that I had to remove several times a day because her breathing was then impaired. She ended up being separated from the flock & basically spent all hours trying to eat and drink. I moved everything to eye level for her, but ultimately she did not make it

Aww, that poor thing :c. I am sorry for your loss. Zombibie's beak doesn't go cross, just curls up in a way, that she can't completely close it. It started cross once and I clipped it back. I have to admit I clipped the lower a little bit too short, it made her bleed just a little bit. But maybe that helped slow the growth down, because since then it never crossed up again, that was a month ago. I did not do it on purpose though!
I really hope Zombibie will make it. I am worried about when she lays eggs. She is all sorts of mutant. What if she has screwed up oviduct and dies trying to lay her first egg?
