Galvanized fence

It's fine as long as you aren't putting something acidic (like acv or fermented feed) inside a galvanized water or feeder... because acidity leaches stuff out and breaks down metal.

Fencing should not be an issue. :)

It's perfectly fine for fencing. It's been used in feeders for decades. As noted above, the zinc (the metal used to galvanize) can leach out. In large quantities it can be bad, the amount actually consumed is minute. Personally I use plastic feeders/waterers, but not because of the zinc. I just find plastic easier to keep clean.
In small amounts zinc is an essential mineral and can be found in feed and vitamins.

It's like one of those things where if taken in small doses, can be beneficial to your health..... like alcohol, lead, cyanide, etc. OK, I'm not sure about the last 2 but, you get the point. Hahaha. :P

Thank you for all the replies. I am looking for an enclosure for my 3 hens and some dog kennels are galvanized.

I think it would be very hard to find any run fencing used by anyone on this forum that is not galvanized though there is probably someone somewhere. There always is. It is the standard, perfectly safe and much longer lasting than ungalvanized.

Every grain bin I've ever seen, most cattle waterers, and many feed tanks, are galvanized and have been for a very long time. I think you'll be just fine.
