galvanized water font rusting

We purchased a nice (and expensive) galvanized water font just a couple of months ago and now it is rusting out inside. The water contains rust. I scrubbed it thoroughly so the water is currently clean, but it keeps on rusting. Has anyone else had this problem? We were adding vinegar to the water and I wonder if that's what did it? Also, I imagine the rusty water isn't good for my girls?

Vinegar would certainly rust out a metal water can in no time. Sorry about that.

Mine has rust to and I've never added vinegar.

I no longer use it but it is a bit aggrivating!!
