"gambling" with fate to defend my eggs' life (he/she make it!!!!)

@ wegotchickens : ups, then after i know that you also have that *bug* then i'm going to say that i caught it from you.
big_smile.png
just kidding.
yes, he's very much alive and healthy, i'm really happy to have him healthy now after that *caesar operation* to help him out of his shell.
smile.png
i just still can't believe that he can survived that power outages and too high temp and too low and the CO2.
sad.png

oh, then it's good to know what's the title in US.
big_smile.png

oh, and, i hope you're better now in condition after too much bad thing happened. i think you understand it. hope you will always better and better.
smile.png

@ terri :walking? of course he's walking. what??? swimming? can 5 days duck swimming? i don't know it. i'll try to give him a bucket filled with 10 liters water to give him swimming, all my duck at backyard never swim since i can't afford to build them a pool/pond.
big_smile.png
that's too expensive and my neighbors will say i'm crazy and call for *mental hospital* to get me in.
smile.png
even they've shocked when know i build a $60 coop for the flock.
big_smile.png
but, is that REALLY? can 5 days duck swim? i want to see it and i give my word that i will post newest pic of POD tomorrow. it's night here.
and how about your setting terry? i've entered lockdown session tonight. i have bump up humidity now.

but, i have to announce bad, very2 bad news.
i just take my thermohygro that i use in setting POD before, i put it into new bator and what i saw? 41 deg, what?????? i'm shocked, so the eggs have been suffering 41 deg for 2 weeks?? then i know why so far i've 8 eggs throw away. they die cause too high temp and my outside thermo only show 37 deg, i'm mad now. cause i remember that my outside thermo ever many times show 38-40 deg and i guess that the temp inside is 43-46 deg, very2 unbelievable, i won't trust outside thermo anymore since now on. that's horrible to know that they've suffered so high temp since i set them.

Glad to know POD is doing well. Hope you are feeling better, too.

You caught my virus over the internet?
lau.gif
I thought only computers could do that.

I am not feeling better. Now I have a worrisome cough, a sore throat, and my nose is all stopped up. No fun. I have been taking good care of myself for my family's sake, but I guess the bug got to me anyway.

Sadly, my only child (now) found her best show bird dead in the pen when she got home from school yesterday. Don't know what happened to our Polish pullet. But my poor girl! She's had too many sorrows already!
So now we are going to find her some Silkie eggs and we will start incubating as soon as we do. She's decided Polish chickens are too flighty and too fragile to be any fun. She prefers Silkies

I will be thinking of you every minute of the hatching process. Counting my blessings instead of fussing over temps & humidity.
My husband is not so happy about having chicks in the house for the winter. But he didn't fuss very much about it.

(s)he should be able to swim but if you are worried about it, you can just put a few inches of water in a bucket to give it a try.. This way, if (s)he can't, it's little feet will hit bottom before it can drowned.. As for me, yes.. i entered lockdown last night but it didn't do all that well since one of the eggs was seeping and smelly this morning.. The temp spiked again also so while i was bringing the temp down and getting rid of the smelly egg, i went ahead and candled one more time.. I thought for sure i fried them but two were still bouncing around.. The third one I am still not sure about since I can't see anything moving but it's not smelly and my son swears he sees veins so, guess we will see.. I did manage to keep the humidity within 1% this morning so I don't feel so bad about having to open it... Only time will tell what happens.. but as of right now, we have gone from 14 eggs to 3 and only two of them I am sure about as far as movement...

ew, i think you need vitamin and sport to keep healthy, as for me i love to drink much tea since it contain high antioxidant to keep me away from doctor, and for good reason it is very2 cheap, i never buy tea more than $ 0,5 here.
yippiechickie.gif

ew, i'm sorry about the bird. maybe she's been to old then dying or being infected by disease, turn it into fire to prevent infection around the flock (cruel indeed to burn own bird but needed to prevent another die). i hope you can find it ASAP and the eggs hatch well.
fl.gif
ups, silkies, polish and etc, i don't know them since i only know *village chicken* over here.
hu.gif

OMG, i'm bad luck, today is 18th days and i got 42 deg when wake up, that's bad for them, i think if 1 of 22 eggs hatch then i need to pray cause that's miracle, it's hard to keep the temp stable when i need to increase humidity here.

i don't know why it's no good to keep bird in winter? i never feel any winter so i can't imagine anything about it.
big_smile.png

hope your health better soon and hope new silkie can relieve your daughter's sorrow.
love.gif

still, sorry if i use improper/wrong placement word, bad english of course.
big_smile.png

and i just learn from oxford dictionary i bought 5 years ago, i saw that (*) sign mean important thing or note. and (") sign mean ditto or same with above, i don't really understand it but i really love that dictionary, best i ever buy i think.

i'm afraid i will kill him, i think it's better for me now focusing on hatching my chicken eggs, then after my chicken hatched i can observe on can or can't my duck swim.
big_smile.png

oh, i'm so sorry about the eggs. i hope the remaining doing it well.
fl.gif

i don't tossed anymore, i just left them inside bator and don't want to even touch any of them, no rocking, no pipping, no zipping or other kind of *ing and ing* .
oh no, i even have got 42 deg when i woke up today (it's morning here). i have to shut down all the lamp to lowering it and i keep humidity 80% now here. with temp 37,4. hope they can survive but i really don't want to have baked chickas now.

i haven't tell you about POD brother's, i opened the egg shell about 3 days ago and i find dead duck inside it. no odor at all and no sign of life at all so i just bury him. poor duck and now POD is alone, he doesn't have any friend now.
roll.png
but i hope he can grow well without any friend.
smile.png

Sorry to hear about POD's brother.. Perhaps you will have some chicks in the next few days and they can all be friends.. I would wait a few days so I knew the chicks were strong but that's what I would do.. I'm not sure what the conversion for celsius and fahrenheit are but mine had gone to 105 a few times.. This morning i candled them because one was seeping and smelly and the temp was 104.4 when I woke up.. Told my hubby that when I do another hatch, I want a real incubator because this has been so stressful.. He said, "If nothing else, this has been a learning experience".. And, he is correct.. More for my son than myself.. I've always loved science and I know my son, like both my husband and myself is a hands on kinda kid.. I think this will be an experience he will never forget.. But, I would like it to have a happy ending...

that's good to have experience to hatching like this.
big_smile.png

just try an online converter. wew, mine worse, have reached 107.6 many times, maybe they'll have dried/baked now.
hit.gif

another real incubator? i think the problem is only located on thermostat you have or unstable place you put in, as for me i can keep them stable since i have no thermostat and enough time to control the temp and temp at morning, noon and night fluctuates many.
sad.png

i plan to make another bator, i need to buy new styro box first and oh no, i need inverter first so my parent can easily provide backup power when power outages happen and i'm not at home. but, i need to my card to be approved first.
he.gif
i want to buy it on eb** that's very cheap place i see many good thing laid around that site.
smile.png

I had an idea, Mulia. Instead of making your incubator run on 220 VAC, can you make it run on 12 VDC, connect it to your battery, then connect the battery to a charger to keep it always charged? That would be like running your incubator on a UPS and it would avoid the inefficiency of the inverter. When the power fails, the incubator will never know it.

i've tried it, the lamp can't light at all, i'm frustrated about it.

i use 5 watt and 10 watt bulb that work on 220V AC and i tried to connect it to 12 Volt DC battery, it can't light at all.how could you make it?

I was thinking more along the lines of automobile tail lamps than of your regular household lamps. They have raised blisters on my fingers when I tried to take them out after they had been burning for some time.

Another possibility is dome lamps. It is not at all uncommon to find the plastic covers warped and twisted from the heat of the lamp.
