"gambling" with fate to defend my eggs' life (he/she make it!!!!)

Mulia, maybe writing a book sounds a little overwhelming to you, and I agree it might be hard to find someone to publish it. However, maybe you could write a magazine article.

Your story is a good one. It is a story of determination, creative thinking, overcoming great odds, and success. It is a very dramatic story that could have a lot of human interest. If you wrote something shorter than a book, like an article several pages long. Look back over your thread and see the emotion with which you write. Don't loose that emotion.

Here is how it works. You write a story, you submit it to a magazine, then they tell you if they are interested in publishing it. Some people write many articles and try many magazines before they actually sell their article, but I think it is work a try. It is a gamble, but one that you just might win again.

I would not worry about your English skills. You might want to have someone here read it and give you some advice on your English, but I think part of the charm of your story is that you are from a struggling country and that you have worked hard to learn English as your second language.

Let me know if you want to talk more about it. I could look for magazines here in the US that might have some interest. It is just a thought.

How is little POD doing? Is he eating or drinking yet?

Mulia, do you have access to the Amazon website, in your language? (or even in English, I was just thinking it would be easier to understand the terms of the contract if you can read it in your own language. What language you'd want to use to write the book, maybe English, because of the reasons stated by Tomato Lady. There could be a huge market for your story in the U.S. And probably other English speaking counties, England, Canada, etc.) If you do have access, you might want to check out the deal you can set up for books/booklets (they also do the same thing for music, films, etc.) where you submit your work electronically, and advertise it on Amazon, and it's printed and sent out by Amazon only when it's ordered. That way, they take a percentage out of each sale, (and you get the rest

) but there's no up-front printing costs, and you don't have to "sell" your book to a publisher. There may be some sort of translating software option to offer it in more than one language.

Look at all the interest there's been just on BYC. And I know there are folks on here who read your account that didn't comment, too.

Hmmm... What are the popular poultry mags? I think Mulia's story is good enough for publishing too, but it can be difficult to find the right market. The first step is to find a magazine that publishes the *type* of article you're thinking of writing. I can help... but with limited time--I'm a writer by profession (can't you tell? lol my 500-word posts, with the crummy grammar & rambling sentences--I actually can write reasonably well, when I take time
lol.png
). I currently write marketing & PR for businesses, but I long to enter the national mag scene.

I can't right now offer to help a lot, because I am already very very busy. But I can offer guidance, maybe. Who here subscribes to poultry magazines? What are your favorites? If someone can post some mag titles, I can look them up and make suggestions on a few that might be a good fit for the story.

I can really see this story being picked up, if it is marketed right. Great idea, tomato lady!!

Dancingbear is right, I have followed this from start to finish all the while praying that the eggs would hatch. I think it would make a GREAT human interest story in a magazine!
Look at all the hardships Mulia endured just end up with one lil duckie and how proud of him we all are that it was possible for him to even get ONE.

iamcuriositycat, I subscribe to: Hobby Farms. It has a great variety of human interest stories. You can contact them at email: [email protected]

Thanks for the suggestion, bloomn!

I've actually been thinking about this all afternoon, and realized that it's ridiculous for me to offer my help halfheartedly. This is an awesome story, and I want to write for national magazines, and it's exactly the kind of thing I want to write about so...

Mulia, I'll PM you with my email address. If you're interested, I want to help you see about getting your story published. Maybe we can do this together. I have a few publications in mind in addition to the suggestion of Hobby Farms--I'm thinking Mother Earth News might be interested, for instance--and maybe others here can make some additional suggestions. If we work together, it can be a story about you by me, and I'll send out queries and see if we can't generate some interest for the story here in the U.S.

dancingbear--you're absolutely right. As much interest as there is here, surely there's enough interest in a publication.

BUT--Mulia, please don't feel like you *have* to let me write your story. I may not be the only writer on this board, and I'm sure I'm not the only writer who could do a good job with your story. But if you *want* to work with me, send me an email (to the address I'll send you in a PM) and we'll go from there. And OF COURSE we'll keep everyone here informed.

Curiositycat, thank you for offering to help Mulia. I hope he is excited about telling his story to a larger audience. What a great story it is.

Mulia, you have a wonderful story to tell. Go for it!

WOW, I'm so glad you got a duckling out of all your hard work. This would be an easy story to pitch in the states. I mean people around here love people overcoming adversity and it would be a great cultural/regional piece in any case. I personally enjoy learning about people who live in other countries and the things they do in their day to day life.

@ tomato lady : thank you tomato lady, i only afraid i haven't time and skill enough to re tell the experience even today i'm entering the next semester on my college
