waterer is an ex ice cream *bucket* filled with marbles.

feeder is an ex drinking bottle 200 ml, cut on side and nailed to a wood so they can't make it fall again (learn from first mistake they like to drop the feed and bathing and scratching on it

Mulia, my birds are so spoiled! They don't seem fat to me, though...
The rooster got 1st place in a show last week, and the girls won prizes, too.
I call them my 'eye-candy' chickens. They are like pets, and come when I call them and don't mind getting hugs. They are probably checking to see if I have bread in my hand, but it makes me feel good to be welcomed by them.

Hope school and the chicks are all doing well for you. And little POD, too!!

thank you wegotchickens.

wow, amazing, they're so prestigious (< is that true word). they're amazing. mine won't win any contest since they're looks like ready-to-cook chicken with so few feathers.

and.... i sadly have to announce bad news, one of my chicks flock, rest in peace just about 5 hours ago.

i've noticed about her *abnormality* about 5 days ago when saw other showed so much growing when she didn't. she has not even fully feathered on her wings like all her brother, she is much smaller from her other bros. she looks like very defensive when other are much aggressive. i think that's because she's a girl so she would be fewer aggressive than male. she's been suffered being *step on* by her bros because her smaller size, so i take a decision to take her out about 2 days ago and put her on other brooder. but that didn't help her and before i can give her more nutritious feed (i plan to make a porridge of egg), she passed away.

give me a bit shocked. a big hurt since i hatch it myself not from buying her from chicken farm and together we have been suffering power outage even when she is inside brooder i need to light on kerosene lamp to keep them all warm when power outages happen. but i will relieve soon cause i don't want to be sad for long, let bygone be bygone. i buried her body at my backyard beside my coop.

thank you emily, i've read your question about thermostat, since i never touch any i can't help. hope you have found out the answer now.

yes, she,s so cute and beauty, never against my hand like her bros. even after she's *sleeping* in eternal sleep now i can still feel her soft fluffy body on my hand and her cheep in my ears, i will miss her so much.

Sorry, Mulia, that you lost a chick. Some chicks just don't make it. Maybe something was not right inside her so she couldn't grow and live like the others. In America even very strong men cry sometimes.

It is good that your other chicks are doing well and growing.

We got our first egg about 2 weeks ago. My granddaughter made me a happy face.

I have been reading your thread almost from the beginning Mulia. I am so sorry that you lost a chick. I know how hard it is. I lost 3 chicks from my first hatch. I had to let one of the chicks die quick because it wasn't normal. It is very hard for a chick that isn't right to live. It is a sad time.

Oh Mulia, I am so sorry to hear you lost a chick. It happens some time no matter how well you care for them.
Maybe here is something to cheer you up a little bit. As I promised I am now posting pictures of my babies that were born the same time yours were. And a few extra for you to see just some of what I have hatched out myself in the last year and half. I buy very few chicks preferring to hatch from eggs instead.
