I think I may put one up tonight in my chicken's pen. The door is always left open. There is only a pen behind the coop just in case we have friends visiting with their dogs. Last night a rabbit was killed in there. I assume it was a fox, but now I'm curious to see what kind of critters are venturing in there at night. Maybe I'll have more exciting pictures to post tommorrow.
I have never seen pics of real javelina before. How wide ranging are they and just what damage do they do?? THey look like they could be pretty vicious. Wild pigs generally are, aren't they?

The deer were only 6 feet from the camera... My pics are of "wild boar" not javelina... javelina are a type of rodent that get to maybe 50 lbs... where as a wild boar hog or feral hog can get upwards of 800 to 1000 lbs! Very distructive and dangerous!

As having raised hogs to be about that size I don't envy you! Those things are some scary creatures. I used to walk into one particular pen with an electric cattle prod as a precaution because the hogs were so...challenging. I couldn't imagine having to walk into my backyard with one. Scary stuff. I don't raise hogs anymore because it was too dangerous.

I should have said, Compaired to a wild hog... he looks like a rodent! LOL... We don't see many (any) Collared Peccary here in Central SC! The mosqitoes would carry em off!
