Game Commission Was Called

I'm so sorry both for you and the deer. When I worked at a vet's office I had to watch 'loving owners' let their pets suffer and I couldn't do anything about it. Watching and knowing that an animal is suffering and not being able to do anything about it hurts. Hopefully she will die quickly.
My sympathies are with you both.

Usually they dont have a lot of wildlife officers available.
Most Sheriff and Police Depts arent authorized to do anything, and will not respond at all.
Here, even Wildlife Officers have to ask permission from headquarters before they can euthanize an animal.

It's NOT that they dont "care", but they simply dont normally have the manpower.

Im sure thats the case most of the times, but around here where I live I know a few of the game wardens, and they WONT do anymore than they absolutley have to do.

Around here, ALL the game wardens and peace officers have EYE problems. They just can't SEE themselves getting outside and WORKING for a living instead of sitting on their butts in their patrol cars!!!!

The officers and game officials are not suppose to kill the deer unless it is laying lifeless on the road or on the side.

I know some game wardens and asked and they said their rule of thumb is if they can walk up to the deer and it doesn't run.... then they will kill it. Otherwise it's considered ok and part of nature, even though it may of been hit by a car. Either way a deer with a wound to two of it's legs isn't a match for a couple of hungry coyotes.

In the long run the deers death will feed some animals for about a week.

I said the same thing on another post and got attacked for being inconsiderate and heartless.

But youre right other animals will be well fed. And nature takes it course.

Had one a few years ago down front of the house, she was in the swamp down there got hit by vehicle, when i seen her i new she was finished and would never heal from the lost of two of her legs and came up and got the pistol and went down and ended her suffering.

Deer are tough and they will struggle a long time with leg injuries like that, the will either die from the extant of the injuries or the K-9'S will put them down....your suppose to call pgc, but i didn't want to see her suffer anymore..

I feel for ya's having to see and deal with these kind of situations..hope she passes quickly if you don't get the chance to help her along..
