gamebird feed vs layer pellets/mash

Ok, so I've read different things about these two and i just need more feedback on what to feed my chickens. I plan on showing my birds in the future and want them to be in the best possible shape meaning: health, feathers, and nutrition/diet. I've read on here that some people think gamebird feed is the best because it has more protein than layer pellets and mash but then i've seen some people post that gamebird feed is not good for them and they rather feed the layer pellets/mash. I just want to know what you all think and what would be the best route for me. Gamebird feed or layer pellets/mash. I have oeg bantams by the way. Or should it be a mixture of the two?

Oh, also i forgot to mention the hen is not laying yet but should be within a month or so she had chicks and they are mostly feathered out. And i have another hen who is broody right now. Both pair of my oeg bantams are 09 hatches if that makes any difference. But yeah let me know what you guys think.

I like the gamebird, but you need to know what you're buying. The feed store here carries gamebird in 20% 22% 24% and 28% I like the 20% and/or the 22% for my chooks and either feed that or flockraiser because it's easy for me since I have birds ranging together and all different ages. I'm feeding 20% right now and have chicks on the ground. I'll switch to 22% in the fall when the hens start too molt and need the protien boost to help grow in their new feathers.

ETA: You do need to put oyster shell out free choice for the laying hens when you use gamebird or flockraiser since they don't have enough calcium for layers.

I don't show. I think even for show birds if you jacked the protien up too much it would be bad for them. I think 22% is really good for getting the feathers to come in, but you may be ok with 24% I wouldn't go higher though. Hopefully someone who shows will chime in. Maybe change your title to optimal protien % for show birds or something. Good luck.
