I never really liked 3rd gen. Pokemon. 4th wasn't that good, either. I kinda want Heart Gold, however.

Oh yeah... I'm going to get a 3DS for Harvest Moon, Star Fox, Kid Icarus, Paper Mario... Darnit Nintendo, stop releasing all the good games on devices I don't have!

1st and 2nd Generation pokemon are where the awesomness is at. X)

Darn right.

The law eschews the ESRB rating system, and demands a separate set of descriptors be applied. It describes a violent game as one in which "the range of options available to a player includes killing, maiming, dismembering, or sexually assaulting an image of a human being." The bill also details what it means by each of those words and extends its description to include characters with "substantially human characteristics."
What is 'violent'? What are 'substantially human characteristics'? Does Pikachu have those characteristics? Does Sonic commit heinous acts of violence every time he uses a homing attack on a robot?

According to the bill, a game falls under the law if "a reasonable person, considering the game as a whole, would find it appeals to a deviant or morbid interest of minors...it is patently offensive to prevailing standards in the community as to what is suitable for minors...or it causes the game, as a whole, to lack serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value for minors."
What defines a reasonable person? What do they mean by 'appeals to morbid interests'? Does this mean that if I enjoy level grinding in Fire Emblem, I'm a terrible, morbid person and FE12 should be rated 'VIOLENT'? What if person X kills mooks in Disgaea simply for a form of stress relief?
Does the community, as a whole, have any business in a legal adult's home? What if family A lives in a Bible Belt community? Does this mean that now you have to do back round checks for simple minors who live in this community simply to find out if they can buy Pokemon Black? Why do we need to know everyone's opinions on if Mario is a good game for little Johnny? Also...
IT'S. A. GAME. The definition is as follows: A game is a structured activity, usually undertaken for enjoyment and sometimes used as an educational tool. Games are distinct from work, which is usually carried out for remuneration, and from art, which is more concerned with the expression of ideas. So WHY IN THE WORLD are you criticizing simple pastimes? It doesn't need massive political, religious, or educational undertones! IT'S. A. GAME!!
Gah, this ticks me off so much! One final question... What if a minor already has this 'questionable' material? Can they barge into my house and arrest me for possessing such heinous material as 'Mother 3', 'Tales of the Abyss' and 'Skies of Arcadia'?

Ditto. I see no problem with the rating system as is. I guess it's also not okay to mow down hordes of aliens in Halo since they have "substantially human characteristics."

Now, the GTA games I can sorta understand the issues with, but still, the rating system as is works fine. It ain't the State's problem what parents allow their kids to play.

One more reason to hate politicians. Getting their filthy noses into others' business.

Why can't people just leave everything alone? So a video game has some violence, big whoop.

No, don't even mention violence in the presence of minors! Their developing brains will wrap around every word you say and soon they'll be in jail for arson, murder, and jaywalking AND IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!!! As soon as they leave the sanctity of their school grounds, you bombard them with this heinous material! /sarcasm

I don't think this extends to internet shopping, however. Maybe I'll just have Mom buy all my games for me.

OK, OK... Although your point is uhm... Strongly valid, I still stand by my point.
I'll not turn this into one of those political threads, soo....

I'm sick of COD6. There, I said it. Everyone in my class won't shut up about it! We were doing metaphor poems and people were comparing their mates to guns and explosives... How creative.
On HALO now.

I'm sick of COD fanboys thinking they know everything about guns.

Half of 'em have never pulled a trigger on a .22, let alone a combat rifle.

From what I've seen, Halo has better multiplayer anyway. Not anywhere near as many glitches, plus, you can run over people in a Warthog while your buddy shoots up everyone else.

Good, wholesome fun.

NO FAN WARS.
And jeeze, its a video game

I dont need to know how to use guns to play CoD, nor do i need to know how to be a serial killer to play Grand Theft Auto

I agree justino, I'm more sick of game wars than the COD fanboys now. So you don't like COD, great, I don't like it either. I love halo, you hate it with a pashion and think anyone who plays it is ***, good for you.

(I've never fired a gun either,

There's like no shooting ranges here in the suburbs. I so want to though)

Hey, I don't claim to be a fan. I was just making a statement based on my own experience. I just stated that I thought Halo had better multiplayer. I thought opinions were allowed here.

I'm just sick of people who obsessively play these games trying to give tips to people firing ACTUAL guns.

In a separate vein, there's a great (though sometimes inappropriate) Machinima series called "If It Were Realistic." It's funny as heck, and COD and Halo both get mocked.

I go with Q9, opinions should be allowed here. I never meant to introduce any Fan Wars, in fact, perhaps this wouldn't have appeared as one if it were never brought up.
I haven't fired a gun either, I just find it funny how they think they know everything about weapons since they play COD.

Person: My friend is a 360 no scope headshot across the map

On another note, has anyone every played The World Ends With You? Yes, cheesy name but the game is quite fun...
