GAMES FOR EGGS and other fun prizes

what about a game like a "White Elephant"..... Whoever wants in donates a prize is entered. I would number the prizes 1-???? depending on how many entries we have. I draw a name out of a hat and that person picks a number and then I reveal the prize. I draw the next name-that person can pick a number or "steal" the persons prize that picked before them and then that person picks a number again. you can only steal the persons prize that picked before you. If it is your prize that was picked before you, you keep what you have but the next person can steal your prize and then you pick again..... Make sense??? Each person covers their own shipping cost and the more people we have-the more fun it would be. Even if it went on for a few days, everyone could play and everyone would win something...... If you don't have access to ship, you could donate a BYC membership or even magazine subscriptions-I know there are few good chicken ones out there.... What do ya think???

It would have to wait until next week to start because we have our state chicken show this weekend but if people want to do this, they can start posting that they would want "in" and what they would like to donate. I heard hatch bags, chicken signs, saddles, aprons, BYC memberships.... It doesn't have to be a big ticket item (but those are fun too) and eggs are always welcome I'm sure! If we get good feedback by friday this week we can decide on a "closed" date and a "start" date for the upcoming week.

This would probably be one that you could play because you have to donate a prize to win a prize... @cjwaldon would that be ok???? More like a "community/team builder" but still a game!

I don't imagine a game like you're describing would be one where anyone has to sit out, even after its over. Everyone will still be able to play and not have to sit out after because EVERYONE is getting a prize.

WHITE ELEPHANT sounds like fun! However, I have some reservations. I've seen too many egg swaps and ornament swaps where some members never received their item. Therefor I'm adding a rule that if a participant does not ship their gift, they will be banned from participating in this group again, either as host or player. No second chances.

For that matter, any host that doesn't ship or refund will be permanently banned. Any host that cannot ship but does refund will be put on probation.

I still owe two people due to my Isabel Leghorn rooster sleeping on the job. I discovered there might be a problem when I candled my own eggs a few days after shipping. One player opted to wait until Spring to fulfil. That player's shipping fee was refunded. I have not refunded the other player. I am hoping to reship to the other player in about a week. I can't ship soon I'll refund that player as well.

The best way to flush out hiccups in a game is to try it once. All players will be required to send tracking information to @meltel when they ship. Ideally everyone will ship and nothing will get lost in the mail. @meltel are you willing to keep a worksheet of who is sending what item to which player and adding tracking numbers as they are shipped?

Since this game would be an equal swapping where every player gets something, I don't see why everyone couldn't play. Anyone think of any issues letting everyone play? Of course this type of game would not decrease the time-out period for other games.

I can't think if any other stipulations. As long as everyone ships what they say they will within a reasonable time frame [for instance 2 days] I don't see any real problems.

Now I'm off to see what I can find on amazon! I may even put up some bars of my handmade soap. That soap is made with a serious dose of love.
