Gander with swollen foot

Glad to hear Sammy is on the mend. It's a regular thing for one of my geese to show up with a limp or a scratch (or bite wounds on feet from frisky play in pool), but they always rebound quickly.
I know J it's just part of keeping them, but once a mother always a mother doesn't matter if human or fowl

After soaking Sam foot this afternoon there looks like there might be a splinter in his pad. it's still swollen but what should I do now? I don't want it to get infected but it doesn't look like it's working it's way out either. The swelling isn't as much as it was but still pretty swollen.

Let me know if it works!
Well last eve. was not a good time to try it, my dh is recovering from shoulder surgery and he isn't any help have you ever tried to hold a goose and dr. a foot? I got him wrapped in a towel but couldn't get the rest to work so will have to get our son to come and help. I did manage to spread some Ithamol salve over it.

Definitely a two person job! I think Gerdie would let me do it, but Herdie would be a fight!

Miss Lydia. Ichthammol is great for drawing things out. Great idea. Did the bright light idea for visualizing help? If you need to get in there to try to get it out, use hypodermic needles. Wish I was there to help you, my friend. The kids are squirmy little boogers. Maybe the Ichthammol will help draw the splinter closer to the surface so you can use the needle and tweezers to get it out. I had never heard of the baking soda before, but it would be way cool if it does the trick. SMILE!
